A method in a first communications device (first device) including sending a message to a second communication device (second device), the message including a link to an application server from where an application can be downloaded into the second device; obtaining first information from the application server whether the second device has activated the link received in the message, and started to download the application, the first information indicating whether the second device has started to download the application, and indicating whether the second device downloads the application when the first information is obtained.

Abstract: WLAN set up is facilitated using phone number identification between a mobile phone that has access to the WLAN and another mobile phone or a computer that it is desired to have access to the WLAN. A visiting mobile phone is used to send a text message, e.g., SMS message, to a home mobile phone, which has permission to access the WLAN; the text message indicates a request for permission to access the WLAN. The home mobile phone may operate automatically, semi-automatically or manually to provide permission and parameters for the visiting mobile phone to access and to connect to the WLAN or to deny permission and access. A computer may dial the visiting mobile phone, which has obtained permission to access the WLAN, and may retrieve the WLAN parameters and use them to access and to connect to the WLAN.

Abstract: A method of operating a first electronic device to access files on a second electronic device includes registering with a proxy server to obtain a communication session identification, sending a request to the second electronic device to access files thereon, the request comprising the communication session identification and a phone number associated with the first electronic device, and receiving a notification from the proxy server that a connection has been established with the second electronic device responsive to the second electronic device accepting the request.

Abstract: The current invention provides a system and method for selecting a proxy gateway for communication between a client and server. In exemplary embodiments, a network includes a plurality of proxy servers and one or more reference nodes in signal communication with the proxy servers. A reference communication path is determined between each proxy server and a reference node. The communication path from the client to the server may then be compared to the reference paths for the proxy servers to determine which proxy server is suitable to act as the proxy gateway for the communication. In one embodiment, the proxy server having the shortest logical distance to the client-server communication path may be selected to act as the proxy gateway.
