  • Publication number: 20160216796
Abstract: A device, having a touch screen display, performs a mutual capacitance scan of rows and columns of an array of capacitive touch sensors associated with the touch screen display. The device selects a subset of the rows, and a subset of the columns, of the array of capacitive touch sensors, and performs a self capacitance scan of the selected subset of the rows, and the selected subset of the columns, of the array of capacitive touch sensors based on results of the mutual capacitance scan. The device identifies an accidental or false touch input on the touch screen display based on results of the self capacitance scan.

  • Publication number: 20160182435
Abstract: A user device, such as a smart phone or an augmented reality glasses, receives data to be displayed to a first user, and the user device determines whether the first user is engaged in a social interaction with a second user. The user device presents the data for display to the first user when the first user and the second user are not engaged in the social interaction. For example, the user device may determine whether the second user is turned toward the first user for a threshold amount of time. When the first user is engaged in the social interaction with the second user, the user device withholds the data, determines a break in the social interaction, and presents the data to the first user during the break. The user device may modify the displayed data based on the duration of the break.

  • Publication number: 20160182866
Abstract: Video data is captured by an imaging sensor. Motion is detected in the captured video data, e.g., by applying image analysis to different video frames of the captured video data. At least one subarea of an overall imaging area of the imaging sensor is determined. The subarea is determined to correspond to a position of the detected motion. In the determined subarea, a video capturing frame rate applied which is higher than a video capturing frame rate applied in other parts of the overall imaging area.

  • Publication number: 20160182798
Abstract: A sequence of multiple subimages is captured by an imaging sensor organized in multiple subsets of pixels. Each of the subsets of pixels is assigned to capturing a corresponding one of the subimages. For each of the subsets of pixels, a noise level of an output of the pixels of the subset is measured. Depending on the measured noise level, an exposure time for capturing the corresponding subimage is controlled.

  • Publication number: 20160179245
Abstract: A device includes a capacitive sampling unit that measures, at the multiple instances of time during a touch interval, capacitance values of a capacitive touch screen display associated with an area in contact with a finger touching the capacitive touch screen display. The device further includes a touch deformation area unit that determines, at the multiple instances of time, a size of the area upon the capacitive touch screen display in contact with the finger touching the capacitive touch screen display. The device also includes a touch force estimation unit that determines a rate of change in the size of the area in contact with the finger, and estimates a touching force of the finger touching the capacitive touch screen display based on the determined rate of change in the size of the area.
