  • Patent number: 10709816
Abstract: The invention relates to implants that are implanted into living beings as temporary implants and that disintegrate in the body through biological adsorption over a period of time, in addition to a process for producing aforesaid implants. The implant according to the invention consists of magnesium or a magnesium master alloy. It is formed from fibers of magnesium or a magnesium master alloy that are connected to one another through sintering bridges that are locally spaced vis-à-vis each other and form an open-pored body. The fibers may be produced with the help of the melt extraction process and may subsequently be sintered with one another.

Assignees: Medizinische Hochschule Hannover (MHH), Fraunhofer-Gesekkschaft zur Foerderung der angewandten Forschung e.V.
Inventors: Olaf Andersen, Ingrid Morgenthal, Thomas Studnitzky, Frank Witte
  • Patent number: 10519792
Abstract: The present invention relates to a run-in coating for a turbomachine, in particular for an aero engine, to be attached to a seal between a rotor and a stator, wherein the run-in coating comprises a metallic scaffold having interstices which are filled with an inorganic-nonmetallic filler material, and wherein the metallic scaffold is formed from an arrangement of metal fibers (9). The invention also relates to a corresponding turbomachine.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 17, 2014
Date of Patent: December 31, 2019
    Assignee: MTU AERO ENGINES AG
Inventors: André Werner, Olaf Andersen, Ralf Hauser, Cris Kostmann

  • Patent number: 6968681
Abstract: The invention relates to a device and a method for the aftertreatment of exhaust gases from combustion engines, in particular from internal combustion engines. The device according to the invention and the method are intended to be of simple construction, should be inexpensive to produce and operate and should have less adverse effect on the flow conditions in the exhaust gas stream. To achieve this object, at least one region which is filled with beads is provided in the exhaust-gas stream, the beads preferably being hollow beads. The exhaust gas from the combustion engine is passed through this region, and it is possible to achieve particle agglomeration with simultaneous separation of these particles. In addition, further regions which are filled with metal fibers may follow the at least one region filled with beads, and the exhaust gas is additionally passed through these further regions.

  • Patent number: 6828026
Abstract: The invention relates to hollow balls having shells comprising a sintered inorganic material, such as metals, metal oxides or ceramic, and to methods for producing lightweight structural components using such hollow balls. According to the object of the invention, the application area is to be widened, processing to form structural components is to be made technologically simpler and the properties of the hollow balls and of the structural components produced therewith are to be improved for specific applications. For this purpose, an additional solid functional layer is formed on a shell on the hollow balls. The functional-layer material can then be made able to flow and plastically and/or elastically deformed as a result of a physical and/or chemical treatment.
