  • Patent number: 8459571
Abstract: An injection valve has a valve body and a valve pin. The valve body has a metering orifice. In a closed position of the valve pin, the flow of fluid through the metering orifice is disabled and otherwise released. A control signal (ANS_SIG) for metering fluid with the injection valve is generated for a first valve pin actuator which is coupled to the valve pin to drive the valve pin. At least one first atomization signal (ZER_SIG—1) for the first and/or the second valve pin actuator is generated at least during a predetermined interval during the control of the first valve pin actuator with the control signal (AN_SIG) in such a manner that the valve pin is oscillatingly displaced relative to a position of the valve pin in response to the first atomization signal (ZER_SIG—1), the valve pin having said position in response to the control signal (ANS_SIG).

  • Patent number: 8359899
Abstract: In a method for correcting the output signal of a broadband lambda probe of an internal combustion engine, the influence of the air humidity on the lambda value determined by the broadband lambda probe is detected and is deducted by means of a compensation model. For this purpose, a measured air humidity is incorporated in the calibration of the broadband lambda probe during an overrun shut-off phase of the internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 8024922
Abstract: A reductant delivery unit (10) is provided for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) after-treatment for vehicles. The unit includes a solenoid fluid injector (10) constructed and arranged to be associated with an exhaust gas flow path (14) upstream of a SCR catalytic converter (17). The fluid injector has a fluid inlet (13) and a fluid outlet (15) with the fluid inlet being constructed and arranged to receive a source of urea solution and the fluid outlet being constructed and arranged to communicate directly with the exhaust flow path so as to control injection of urea solution into the exhaust gas flow path. An interface (24) is constructed and arranged to couple the fluid injector to the gas flow path. The interface defines a thermal barrier constructed and arranged to decoupled a body of the injector from exposure to heat in the exhaust gas flow path.

  • Patent number: 8024106
Abstract: In a method for regulating a combustion process of an internal combustion engine with exhaust-gas recirculation, which can be operated with a variable air/fuel ratio, and a fresh-air flow and a recirculated exhaust-gas flow, both the fresh air and the recirculated exhaust-gas flow are metered. The combustion process of an internal combustion engine with exhaust-gas recirculation is regulated, wherein the method makes precise determination of the exhaust-gas recirculating rate possible with a low fault tolerance.

  • Publication number: 20100307230
Abstract: A method for monitoring the state or an engine oil in an internal combustion engine, in which first the viscosity of the engine oil is determined at different temperatures of the engine oil, after which a viscosity index is ascertained from the viscosity and the temperature of the engine oil, which method permits a reliable statement about the state of the engine oil during its issue in the internal combustion engine to be made, the viscosity index of the engine oil is determined at different successive times and the change of the viscosity index over time is used as a measure for assessing the oil state.
