    Abstract: The present invention relates to biological electrodes modified with hydrogenase enzymes (anodes), by means of which it is possible to produce electrical energy from hydrogen in a typical fuel cell configuration. Likewise, using these hydrogenase-modified electrodes (cathodes), it is possible to produce hydrogen from water in a typical electrochemical cell configuration. The methods of making the biological electrodes of the present invention and applications thereof are also described.
