  • Patent number: 9014694
Abstract: A first user equipment UE operating in a first/strong transmission mode determines that a second UE is operating in a second/weak mode and is allocated a same radio resource as the first UE. The first UE determines a transport format for transmissions to the second UE and uses that to decode and cancel a transmission received on the radio resource which is directed to the second UE, mitigating interference with a further transmission directed to the first UE. Various examples are given of specific resource allocation signaling used to determine that the second UE is operating in the second mode and is allocated the same radio resource, such as implicitly by a specific downlink control indication format or an explicit indication in a resource allocation directed to the first UE. The first UE can determine the transport format of the second UE from network signaling.

  • Patent number: 8675571
Abstract: The exemplary embodiments of the invention provide information (e.g., a common control signaling entry) for a control channel. The information may include signaling information about the overall control channel structure in a given sub-frame and/or other common information to assist UEs in decoding the channel (e.g., definitions related to the overall arrangement and parameterization of the channel structure). The information may provide non-UE-specific, common signaling information for the UEs served in the cell. In one exemplary embodiment of the invention, a method includes: providing at least one control channel allocated over at least one set of subcarrier resources, wherein the at least one control channel extends over a number n of multicarrier symbols; and transmitting information via a portion of the sub-carrier resources, wherein the transmitted information is indicative of at least one property of the at least one control channel.

  • Patent number: 8526957
Abstract: In accordance with the exemplary embodiments of the invention there is at least a method, apparatus, and executable computer program to perform operations including detecting that a cell in a wireless communication system is able to selectively increase or decrease its transmit power by an amount, where the cell is configured with a transmit power and a parameter that indicates a maximum difference in power change, resulting from a change in transmit power, that can exist between a power change of the cell and a power change of a neighbor cell, examining, at the cell, a signal comprising at least one value received from at least one neighbor cell, based on the examining, determining that a transmit power change is possible, modifying a value associated with the transmit power, and modifying the transmit power of the cell by the modified value, and signaling the modified value to the at least one neighbor cell in the wireless communication system.

  • Publication number: 20080031191
Abstract: An allocation of radio resources is signaled with a multi-user multiple-input-multiple-output MU-MIMO field indicating whether MU-MIMO is enabled in the allocation. The structure of the signal allocating the resources changes depending on whether the MU-MIMO field indicates enabled or not. For downlink signaling, an additional length field indicates a length of another component of the allocation apart from that listing user identifiers. A component listing which resource blocks are allocated for MU-MIMO is one embodiment, and it may be split to indicate per-stream. Multiple embodiments are shown with various assumptions as to mapping between components of the resource allocation and tradeoffs of flexibility and signaling overhead, for method, apparatus, program, and chip.
