  • Publication number: 20050258091
Abstract: Apparatus for contacting first and second fluids at elevated pressures with a membrane such that one or more components of one of the fluids passes through the membrane into the other fluid, comprising a housing e.g. a pressure vessel (4), and a membrane module (20) housed in the pressure vessel and having a first fluid inlet (8a) and a first fluid outlet (8b) and a second fluid inlet (9a) and a second fluid outlet (9b), wherein a seal (61) extends round the membrane module and seals between an outside wall of the membrane module and an inside wall of the pressure vessel so as to separate the first fluid inlet from the first fluid outlet.

  • Patent number: 6228145
Abstract: A method for removing and preventing discharge into the atmosphere of carbon dioxide from combustion gases and natural gas from installations for production of oil and/or gas, wherein the combustion gas is passed to an absorber containing a solvent, where carbon dioxide is absorbed in the solvent, and the thereby purified combustion gas, largely free of carbon dioxide, is released into the atmosphere, where the CO2 rich solvent is passed to a desorber where CO2 is removed from the solvent, and the thereby largely CO2-free solvent is recycled to the absorber, and the separated CO2 gas is passed to a compression stage for compression and utilization and/or disposal in a suitable manner, where membrane gas/liquid contactors are employed in both the absorber and the desorber, and that an external stripping steam is supplied to the desorber.

  • Patent number: 5832712
Abstract: A method for removing and preventing emissions into the atmosphere of carbon dioxide (CO.sub.2) from exhaust gases from gas turbines for the production of oil and gas, comprising the following steps: (a) natural gas and air are introduced into a gas turbine in which natural gas is converted to mechanical energy; (b) the exhaust gas from the gas turbine is passed through a heat recovery unit for recovery of the heat content in the exhaust gas; (c) after emitting heat in the recovery unit whereby the temperature of the exhaust gas has been reduced to 20.degree.-70.degree. C., the exhaust gas is passed to an absorption column containing an absorption liquid, where the carbon dioxide is absorbed in the said liquid, and the thereby purified exhaust gas, essentially free of carbon dioxide, is vented to the atmosphere; (d) the absorption liquid which contains CO.sub.2 is passed to a stripping column where the CO.sub.2 is removed from the absorption liquid heated to a temperature of 120.degree.-150.degree. C.
