Abstract: The device for cleaning the inside of an oral cavity includes a cleaning member having bristles on an upper surface for brushing purposes and a scraping edge extending along a rear edge of a lower surface for scraping the tongue and/or interior surfaces of an oral cavity. The scraping edge is formed by an upstanding ridge which extends from the lower surface a distance of from 1 to 3 millimeters. In some embodiments, the cleaning member may be straight while other embodiments the cleaning member may be bowed. Also, the cleaning instrument may have a single handle for holding the cleaning member or a pair of handles.
