  • Publication number: 20070242636
Abstract: A number N physical resource blocks PRBs are allocated among M users in a single control signal, in which some PRBs are allocated as localized to only one user UE and some PRBs are allocated as distributed among multiple UEs. The control signal includes M allocation entries, allocation type bits and a user index sequence of N user indexes. Each allocation entry comprises a UE-ID for indicating to which user a corresponding resource is allocated, where an order of the allocation entries indicates a relationship between the user index and the UE-ID. Individual ones of the allocation type bits corresponds to an individual one of the UE index. The allocation type bits indicate whether a corresponding UE is to use localized allocation or distributed allocation.

  • Publication number: 20070184853
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling the weighting of a data signal in the at least two antenna elements of a first radio connection unit of a radio communications system, which data signal is to be distributed for parallel transmission to a second radio connection unit to at least two beams. In order to improved such a method, it comprises: determining in the second radio connection unit a weight information enabling the first radio connection unit to determine the sets of weights for suitable beams for transmission and transmitting it to the first radio connection unit; and distributing the data signal in the first radio connection unit to those sets of weights and transmitting the data signals simultaneously via the formed beams. Alternatively or additionally, the second unit determines the number of beams to be used and informs the first unit about it. The invention equally relates to corresponding radio connection units, radio connection unit modules and radio communications systems.

  • Publication number: 20070147487
Abstract: Disclosed herein are apparatus, methods and computer program products for transmitting signals in different frequency sub-bands used in a particular cell of a cellular wireless communications system in accordance with a power sequence and for selecting modulation schemes to be used in transmitting the signals in the different frequency sub-bands in dependence on signal transmission power allocated to the sub-bands in the power sequence. In the power sequence, signals to be transmitted in at least one sub-band are allocated a higher signal transmission power level than signals to be transmitted in other sub-bands used in the particular cell of the cellular wireless communication system. The differing signal transmission power levels allocated to the different sub-bands typically results in different SINR for signals transmitted at the higher signal transmission power levels and signal transmitted at the lower signal transmission power levels.

  • Publication number: 20070076668
Abstract: The specification and drawings present a new method, system, apparatus and software product for locating synchronization channels (SCH) in a downlink which are received by a user equipment (UE), such that the downlink synchronization channels are transparent to shared channel users (or UE) which can be used, e.g., in evolving and future systems such as EUTRAN, 4G, 3GPP2, etc. The synchronization channels are arranged so that they are transparent to the UE in a normal active operation state. For that, the resources given to the SCH are chosen to be one or more allocatable resources (resource units) in a sub-frame or in a plurality of sub-frames. In an allocation table, these resources may not be allocated to the UE and in the active state the UE sees that and discards these resources just as it discards any other resource that is not allocated to it.

  • Patent number: 7200368
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for transmitting in a wireless communication system, a transmission signal divided into at least two signal parts by using transmission beams of at least two subarrays (SA1, SA2) of an antenna array. The transmission beam of at least one of the at least two subarrays (SA1, SA2) is at least in part controlled based on a feedback information received from the receiving means (20). Thus, several beams are generated using an antenna array with more than two antennas, wherein an open-loop diversity is used to split the transmission between the beams, and a closed-loop feedback-based diversity is used to optimize the beams, as well as possibly the division of power between the beams. Thereby, the amount of feedback can be controlled so as to achieve significant feedback gain in a multi-antenna transmission even with non-maximal amounts of feedback.
