  • Patent number: 9532148
Abstract: A method of processing a signal in a hearing aid (50) comprises splitting an input signal into a multitude N of hearing aid frequency bands, receiving an input signal from an acoustical-electrical transducer, splitting the input signal into a multitude N of hearing aid frequency bands using a first filterbank, estimating speech, noise and hearing loss levels in said frequency bands, using an auditory model of the cochlea for a hearing impaired person to provide excitation values for speech and noise in said frequency bands, using said excitation values to calculated a speech intelligibility measure and optimizing said speech intelligibility measure by iteratively varying the applied gain in the hearing aid frequency bands. The invention also provides a hearing aid (50).

  • Patent number: 9226082
Abstract: A hearing aid (1) comprising a receiver (2) and at least one first microphone for transforming an acoustic signal surrounding a hearing aid user into an electrical signal, where the hearing aid comprises an ear plug part prepared for fitting tightly into the car canal (11) of a hearing aid user such that an inner volume is formed in the inner part of the ear canal between the car plug part and the car drum of the hearing aid user. The car plug part comprises a second microphone (3) arranged for transforming an acoustic signal in the volume into an electrical signal. The hearing aid comprises estimating means for estimating the effective size of the air leak between the inner volume and the surroundings based on the acoustical signal detected in said volume by said second microphone (3) from a known acoustical signal below 1000 Hz generated by the receiver. The hearing aid further comprises notification means for notifying the hearing aid user if the size range of the air leak is outside a predefined range.

  • Patent number: 9025802
Abstract: A hearing aid comprises a microphone for transforming an acoustic signal surrounding a hearing aid user into an electrical signal, a signal processing means for processing the electrical signal into an electrical output signal and to a receiver (2) driven by the electrical output signal and generating an acoustical signal into the ear canal (11) of a hearing aid user. The hearing aid comprises an ear plug part (1) prepared for being arranged in the ear canal of a hearing aid user. The hearing aid comprises sound generation means for generating an acoustic guiding signal to be provided for a limited period through said receiver during insertion of the ear plug part into the ear canal, in order to be applied by the hearing aid user to optimize the positioning of the ear plug part (1). The invention further provides a method for guiding a hearing aid user during insertion of an ear plug.

  • Patent number: 8290190
Abstract: A method for processing and controlling sound signals in a hearing aid is provided. The method comprises estimating a first (102) and a second (104) signal level of an electric input signal (101) based on a first (103) and a second (105) signal level estimator adapted for responding according to a first and a second speed respectively, where the second speed is lower than the first speed and where the estimated second signal level is subtracted from the estimated first signal level, thereby forming a third signal level (106). Subsequently a first and a second compressor gain control output are determined in a first (107) and second (109) compressor based on said third and second signal level respectively. Then the first and second compressor gain control outputs are summed and hereby a net gain control signal (111) is created. Finally the electric input signal is amplified in accordance with the net gain control signal and thereby creating an electric output signal (112).
