  • Patent number: 8126752
Abstract: A method for providing maintenance to an electrical power generation, transmission and distribution system, and an information system and one or more computer program software means for carrying out same. A method to provide maintenance to an electrical power generation facility and/or an electrical power transmission and distribution network system operated by a Utility. Maintenance personnel visit a site to inspect a condition of said apparatus, and examine information from an Information System operated in co-ordination with a Help Desk.

  • Patent number: 7124773
Abstract: A valve including a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet coupled by a fluid channel, all of which are defined by walls and structures produced by micromachining of glass and/or silicon. An actuator can be set to at least two different positions in order to vary the flow cross section of the fluid channel. The geometries of the fluid inlet, outlet and channel are adapted for preventing the flow from changing its direction so sharply that a significant portion of contaminating droplets and or particles in the flow hit the walls of structures, as given in any arrangement according to or between the following two extremes: i) flow outlet is perpendicular to the flow inlet and the outlet dimension is larger than a critical dimension, Lcrit estimated according to a given formula and/or as simulated in a Computational Fluid Dynamics tool, and ii) flow outlet and flow channel is generally parallel to flow inlet giving a substantially unidirectional flow pattern.

  • Patent number: 6811693
Abstract: An electrically energised device for coalescing a first conductive fluid, emulsified in a second fluid, comprising a tube member (1), having at least one fluid inlet (2) and at least one fluid outlet (3), the tube B member (1) defining a flow channel (4) for an emulsion of the first and second fluid from its inlet side to its outlet side and comprising at least one electrically insulating layer portion, the channel B (4) having a generally circular or elliptic cross section, and an interacting pair of a first and a second electrode (5, 6) that are arranged outside and adjacent to the at least one insulating layer portion, that separates the electrodes (5, 6) from the channel (4) and thereby from immediate contact with the emulsion, and supplied with a pulsed or alternating voltage for the purpose of subjecting the first and second fluid flowing through the flow channel to an electrostatic field.

  • Patent number: 6737767
Abstract: For a method of operating of a synchronous compensator including a rotating electric machine including a rotor and a stator with at least one winding with a solid insulation enclosing the electric field, relevant parameters for temperature conditions in the rotor are determined, and during over-excited operation, to temporarily enlarge the field of operation of the synchronous compensator, cooling of the rotor is forced depending on a rotor temperature value determined from the parameters. The synchronous compensator measures parameters relevant for the temperature conditions of the rotor. A mechanism is also provided to force the cooling of the rotor depending on rotor temperature values determined from the parameters during over-excited operation of the electric machine.
