  • Patent number: 4487397
Abstract: A method for flame spraying of gunite on the lining of metallurgical units, comprising a delivery of a mixture of a refractory material and fuel in a central axisymmetric flow and a delivery of oxygen in an annular flow concentric with the flow of the refractory material and fuel, a heating and fusion of the refractory material in a high-temperature flame, and applying particles of the refractory material to the surface of the lining. Oxygen is delivered in a tapering annular flow rotating about its axis. The ratio between the rotation momentum of the oxygen flow and the momentum of the flow of the refractory and fuel is maintained in the range of 0.3 to 3.0.

  • Patent number: 4386737
Abstract: A flame guniting lance comprises a water-cooled casing made up of pipes (1 and 2). Arranged concentrically inside the casing are pipes (4) for supplying a mixture of powdered refractory material and fuel, and pipes (3) for supplying oxygen. Each pipe (3 and 4) is respectively fitted with a nozzle (5) for supplying the mixture of refractory material and fuel, and a nozzle (6) for supplying oxygen, the nozzles being arranged in pairs and coaxially in each pair. The outlet cross-section of each nozzle (5) is positioned below the outlet cross-section of each nozzle (6) within a distance of 1 to 5 times the inside diameter of the nozzle (5). The walls of at least one of each pair of the nozzles (5 or 6) are partly or completely other than cylindrical in shape.

  • Patent number: 4199970
Abstract: The present invention relates to plastic working of metals and the reducing of a workpiece along its axis by a pair of shaped rolls with formation in the workpiece of a transitional length whose cross section gradually changes from a starting one to several cross sections of finished bars interconnected by webs. The reduction of the workpiece is alternated with its axial displacement through one feed step, whereas at the end of a transitional length adjacent bars are displaced one with respect to another in opposite directions perpendicularly to webs so as to separate the bars. Mill rolls used with the method have several grooves of a variable cross section which form passes for rolling bars. The profile of each groove in transversal (with respect to mill roll axis of rotation) cross section is formed of two mutually conjugated arcs successively coming into contact with the workpiece. The grooves have an arc for reducing the workpiece and an arc for dividing bars one from another.

  • Patent number: 4157025
Abstract: A method of rolling metal billets in a single pass comprises the steps of reducing a billet by workrolls and alternating each reduction cycle of the billet being worked with axial feed thereof through a step of rolling. As the billet is worked by the workrolls a transitional section is formed thereon as a deformation cone having a length along the axis of the billet substantially greater than the corresponding length of the deformation zone induced in the billet by each workroll at each given moment. The mill for carrying out this method comprises a frame having guides running in parallel with the axis of the billet being worked and mounting a roll housing geared to the mill drive to reciprocate the roll housing inside said guides in the course of rolling.
