    Abstract: According to examples, data collection and analysis-based device monitoring may include obtaining, at a monitoring data collector, from an optical fiber of a sensing membrane that is used to monitor a thermal property of a device, monitoring data associated with the monitoring of the thermal property of the device. The monitoring data may be forwarded to a monitoring data analyzer that is remote from the monitoring data collector. Based on an analysis of the monitoring data by the monitoring data analyzer, an indication of an operational status of the device may be received from the monitoring data analyzer. A device controller may control, based on the indication of the operational status of the device, an operation of the device.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is an energy storage system and related method. According to one embodiment, such a system comprises a power management system and a plurality of energy banks coupled to the power management system, wherein each of the plurality of energy banks is capable of being independently discharged through the power management system. The power management system is configured to select at least one of the plurality of energy banks to transfer energy between the energy storage system and a machine powered using the energy storage system. According to one embodiment, the method comprises determining an energy transfer requirement of the machine powered by the energy storage system, selecting at least one of the plurality of energy banks for responding to the energy transfer requirement, and transferring energy between the selected energy bank(s) and the machine according to the energy transfer requirement.

    Abstract: There is provided system and method for receiving speech signals via a plurality of speech lines and communicating the speech signals over a phone line. For example, the communication system comprises a modem, a multiplexor in data communication with the modem, and a plurality of speech codecs in data communication with the multiplexor. According to this aspect, each of the plurality of speech codecs receives a portion of the speech signals via one of the plurality of speech lines and encodes that portion of the speech signals to generate encoded speech signals, and wherein the encoded speech signals from each of the plurality of speech codecs are multiplexed by the multiplexor to generate multiplexed encoded speech signals, and wherein the modem transmits the multiplexed encoded speech signals over the phone line.
