Patent number: 8921739Abstract: Cost efficient, lightweight and rapid windshield deicing systems and methods are disclosed. The systems utilize step-up converters or inverters, or dual-voltage batteries, to provide a voltage high enough to deice a windshield in less than thirty seconds at ambient temperatures above ?10 C. Some of the disclosed systems include sensors for deicing element and ambient temperatures, and in some embodiments windspeed. All embodiments have a controller for limiting deicing time to that sufficient to melt a boundary layer of ice. The controller of embodiments with sensors computes deicing time as a function of ambient temperature. Embodiments interact with wiper systems to enable wipers to clear ice once the boundary layer is melted.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2011Date of Patent: December 30, 2014Assignee: The Trustees of Dartmouth CollegeInventors: Victor Petrenko, Charles R. Sullivan, Oleg Nickolayev, Valeri Kozlyuk

Patent number: 8145685Abstract: An integration server system for mapping data objects on a database schema offers a strongly-typed model API, complex constraint management, and association balancing. The integration server system also has improved performance through optimized handling of ordered associations of data object and of string-valued attributes. The integration server system comprises a database schema configured to store a set of data object instances. A metadata model represents a configuration of the set of data object instances in the database schema. A model application programming interface provides a client application with access to the set of data object instances, and a metadata application programming interface provides a client application with access to the set of data object instances via the metadata model.Type: GrantFiled: August 15, 2008Date of Patent: March 27, 2012Assignee: Oracle International CorporationInventors: David Thompson, Oleg Nickolayev, Yogeshwar Wamanrao Kuntawar

Patent number: 7770119Abstract: Systems and methods that automatically arrange, or re-arrange, object nodes in a diagram such that the total length of all associations between nodes and the number of overlapping associations is reduced or minimized. In mathematical terms, the process simplifies the graphical representation of an arbitrary graph. In one aspect, processes of the invention use a physical model of particle interactions to determine a minimal energy state, with object nodes modeled as particles and the associations between the object nodes modeled as interaction forces. Perturbations applied to the system allow for a determination of a minimal energy state.Type: GrantFiled: November 21, 2007Date of Patent: August 3, 2010Assignee: Oracle International CorporationInventors: Oleg Nickolayev, David Thompson, Yogeshwar Wamanrao Kuntawar, Laura Anne Brogoch

Publication number: 20050131870Abstract: A repository contains multiple versions of an object but only a single version of the object is supplied when a query is made. The single version is automatically selected from among a number of versions that are otherwise returned in response to the query, based on a configuration associated with a workspace in which the query originates. The selected version of the object is then presented in a version resolved view, without exposing any information related to versioning of the object. Specifically, a number of configurations are established, each configuration containing no more than one version of each object in the repository. However, only one configuration is associated with each workspace from which a query can originate. The configuration that is associated with the workspace depends on whether the workspace is to be used for design of the repository or for use of the repository during live operation.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 12, 2003Publication date: June 16, 2005Applicant: Oracle International CorporationInventors: Janaki Krishnaswamy, Bhagat Nainani, Oleg Nickolayev, Vishal Saxena, William Stallard, David Thompson
