  • Publication number: 20160021418
Abstract: Heterogeneous video may be independently encoded in a processor-based system and transmitted for display on a display device. In the display device, the independent video streams may be de-packetized for display on the same display at different frame rates. Thus, each of the video sources may be displayed in a separate portion of the display at its native frame rate. For example, an electronic programming guide may be transmitted for display at one frame rate and displayed in a distinct region on the display screen while video corresponding to an ongoing television program may be displayed in another portion of the display screen at its native frame rate.

  • Patent number: 8782437
Abstract: An apparatus and method for protecting a content item such as a digitally encoded movie, an electronic programming guide, or the like, by reordering blocks of the content item prior to transmitting it to a receiving device. The receiving device constructs a block reordering structure which is used to access the reordered content item, to facilitate retrieval of a desired block from the original content item. The reordering may be done responsive to an identifier value of the receiving device, such as a serial number.

  • Patent number: 7640037
Abstract: A method of processing information received in the form of a message from a mobile handheld device with a camera, where the message includes data representing an image of a document and an identifier of a type of said document. The method preferably provides image enhancement, information recognition and analysis selected based on the identified document type. An output of the system is preferably provided to the user in the form specified by the user, such as an e-mail.

  • Patent number: 7519273
Abstract: A data delivery mechanism, such as a recordable disk or packets on a wire, delivering an info segment which specifies interruption points at which a first content item such as a television program is to be interrupted and a second content item such as an advertisement is to be inserted. The info segment may prevent certain types of second content items from being utilized, may permit them to be avoided, may control their duration, and other aspects of their utilization. The info segment may specify with which first content item it is associated. Other embodiments are also disclosed and claimed, such as an electronic programming guide.

  • Patent number: 7505193
Abstract: A spatial light modulator may be adapted to receive bi-directional drive signals. The spatial light modulator may include a plurality of pixel elements having individual first electrodes and a common electrode providing a second electrode for each of the pixel elements. The pixel elements may be adapted to change between a first state and a second state in accordance with signals applied thereto, and the bi-directional drive signals may include at least a first drive signal and a second drive signal. Both drive signals are applied to change the pixel elements from the first state to the second state and from the second state to the first state.

  • Publication number: 20070294641
Abstract: A programming guide for streaming video files may be automatically compiled in response to a user request. The user may provide keywords for categories of streaming video files that are of interest. A graphical user interface is automatically developed which splits responsive streaming video files into categories requested by the user. Each streaming video file may be represented in a user selected fashion. For example, the streaming videos may be represented by a representative frame, title or other information. The user can then click on any of the streaming video files, broken down into the appropriate categories, to begin viewing a streaming video file of interest.

  • Publication number: 20070162951
Abstract: Content which users may wish to receive may be distributed with interrupting content such that the use of the content on the user's receiver may be interrupted and replaced with the interrupting content. The content which the user wishes to receive may be software, audio, video, graphics or other material and the interrupting content in one embodiment of the prevent invention may be advertisements. In this way, the user's receiver may be utilized to determine when it is appropriate to interrupt the interruptible content with the interrupting content. This may provide a convenient mechanism for reduced price or free distribution of a wide variety of media currently provided only in physical form or only for free without any compensation to the content provider.

  • Publication number: 20070073903
Abstract: Variables incorporated into a hypertext markup language document enable location of hypertext elements. Once the variable is located, the information contained within the identified hypertext element may be used in other applications. The information may be received, as a recognized input, by the application.

  • Publication number: 20070052639
Abstract: A pixel is driven with pulse width modulation (PWM). A cycle for the PWM signal is divided into a plurality of super-intervals. Each of the super-intervals is divided into a plurality of intervals. An interval index is stored for the pixel. The timing at which the pixel is changed from one state to another is selected based on an enable signal and the stored interval index.
