Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods of detecting an unstable arteriosclerotic plaque in an individual, involving detecting in a biological sample from the individual an enzymatic cleavage product of a protein component of an arteriosclerotic plaque. The present disclosure provides methods of assessing the risk that an individual will develop an occlusive vascular event. The present disclosure further provides kits for carrying out a subject method.
