Abstract: A video monitoring system that incorporates mobile cellular telephone technology to provide images or live video in real time to a parent or business owner for safety, security and surveillance purposes includes a surveillance camera mounted in or adjacent the room or site to be monitored, a control unit for transmitting the images received from the camera to the cellular telephone, a recording device for recording the activity, a electric eye connected to the camera and the control unit for actuating the camera upon physical interruption of the electric beam through, for example, opening a door to the room, and a speaker electrically interconnected to the control unit and the electric eye for broadcasting instructions, guidance, and reminders for the individual after the individual has opened the door and entered the room.
