  • Publication number: 20230311803
Abstract: A motor vehicle and a method secure a passenger in the motor vehicle in a collision. The motor vehicle has a seat including a seat body, which forms a seat surface, and a backrest connected to the seat body. An inertial force acting on the passenger in a collision is transmitted by a seatbelt arrangement to the backrest in such a manner that the latter pivots forwards relative to the seat body counter to the restoring effect of an elastic and/or plastic deformation of at least part of the backrest. A force which counteracts the pivoting-forwards action is generated by a force generator, and transmitted to the backrest, and/or the maximum pivoting path of the backrest is limited by a limiting device in that, when a predetermined reference acceleration is present, a deviation between a present pivoting path of the backrest and a predetermined reference pivoting path is minimized.

  • Patent number: 10471917
Abstract: A knee air bag apparatus having a housing disposed in or adjoining a lower region of an instrument panel extending from front to rear having an outlet opening. An inflator and a knee air bag are mounted in the housing in the initial state, and in an expanded state deploys in front of the instrument panel. The air bag outer skin has a protective section and a fill and support section. The protective section when expanded state is positioned, in front of the instrument panel. To improve deployment behavior, the fill and support section features a vehicle-front section such that with the knee air bag fully expanded, the front section extends beyond the vehicle front end of the housing in the direction of the vehicle front.

  • Patent number: 10259418
Abstract: A knee air bag apparatus having a housing (10) disposed in or adjoining a lower region of an instrument panel (I) extending from front to rear having an outlet opening (16). An inflator and a knee air bag (30) are mounted in the housing (10) in the initial state, and in an expanded state deploys in front of the instrument panel (I). The air bag outer skin has a protective section (32) and a fill and support section (36). The protective section (32) when expanded state is positioned, in front of the instrument panel (I). To improve deployment behavior, the fill and support section (36) features a vehicle-front section (38) such that with the knee air bag (30) fully expanded, the front section extends beyond the vehicle front end of the housing (10) in the direction of the vehicle front (FIG. 1).

  • Patent number: 8806773
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for folding an airbag (1) for placement in an airbag module for a motor vehicle. The method involves folding the airbag (1), exposing the airbag (1) to moisture, compressing the airbag (1), and simultaneously extracting the moisture. Moisture in liquid or vapor form can be introduced before or after folding the airbag. Further disclosed is a device for folding the airbag.

  • Patent number: 8398115
Abstract: A vehicle steering wheel with a steering wheel body, a movable element held movably on the steering wheel body, which element can be pressed down against the force of a restoring element against the steering wheel body, and with a horn contact which is closed by pressing down of the element. An economical design for constructing the horn contact is created in that the horn contact has two cable cores (44a, 44b) which are held in a holding element (32), and that a contact element (36a, 36b) which is likewise held by the holding element (32) extends into each of the cable cores (44a, 44b). The two contact elements (32a, 32b) come into electrical contact with each other here by the pressing down of the movable element.
