Abstract: A system and method of performing digital image compression comprises comparing pixels in various locations in a digital picture image frame; coding a position of pixels located in a foreground of the digital picture image frame; sending the coded positions of the pixels located in a foreground of the digital picture image frame to a frame buffer of a sprite controller; separating a background pixel group from a foreground pixel group in the digital picture image frame based on the coded positions; compressing the pixels in the foreground pixel group; and transmitting a frame number and a frame buffer parameter dimension corresponding to the compressed pixels to a digital picture image display viewer.

Abstract: A system and method of recording digitally stored surveillance images comprises dividing a series of continuous digital picture image frames according to timing intervals; storing a reference image in a frame buffer of a motion analyzer; detecting a motion difference between a captured image and the reference image; attributing a motion code and time stamp on the captured image; and recording the captured image when the motion code and time stamp match a predetermined threshold.

Abstract: Embodiments herein provide a method and apparatus for recognition and tagging of multiple layered entropy coding system. The method comprises receiving a signal and performing entropy average coding to produce an entropy coded bit stream. Next, the method adds a tag to a beginning portion of the entropy coded bit stream. The tag comprises a plurality of headers, wherein each of the headers differs from one another, and wherein the headers comprise an elongated bit stream. Following this, the method reads the tag when processing the entropy coded bit stream and avoids subsequent entropy averaging on the entropy coded bit stream when the tag is present. The avoiding of the subsequent entropy averaging avoids unnecessary coding and entropy averaging of the entropy coded bit stream.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a method, system, etc. for automatic power saving mode insertion when an unknown or an offensive receiver detected in a wireless access system. A method comprises generating a look-up-table from AGWN payloads in a plurality of AGWN packets. The look-up-table is then transmitted from a transmitter to a receiver. Next, the method generates a coded packet from an AGWN packet in a data packet using the look-up-table, wherein a code from the look-up-table is substituted in place of the AGWN packet. Specifically, the substituting of the code from the look-up-table comprises substituting coded symbols representing AGWN payloads in the AGWN packets. Further, the generating of the look-up-table comprises generating the code to represent size and strength information regarding an AGWN, wherein the coded packet is generated with a size that is less than the data packet.

Abstract: An apparatus for connecting electronic devices having a flexible cable bus housing containing a plurality of same or different communication and power channels extending along a length thereof and a plurality of bus ports at different locations along the bus housing length. Each bus port is capable of being operatively connected to one of the communication or power channels. The apparatus further includes a plurality of device connectors adapted to connect to a bus port at one end thereof and to a discrete device at another end thereof. Each connector at the device end has a different plug conforming to one of the communication or power channels. The apparatus preferably further includes a switch for connecting each bus port to the communication or power channel conforming to the device end plug when a device connector is connected to the bus port on the bus housing.

Abstract: A computer controlled method, with appropriate computer programming support, for providing a visualized outline and index to a meeting of a plurality of individuals comprising recording a sequential audio file of the meeting and identifying each spoken portion of the audio file with one of said plurality of individuals. Then, converting the audio file to a sequential text document and analyzing the sequential text file for selected spoken terminology. At this point, the text document may be sequentially displayed and there is displayed in association with the displayed text document, a sequential annotated graph, running concurrently with said sequential displayed text and visualizing said selected spoken terminology.

Abstract: Methods and systems for changing language characters of graphical user interfaces and application programming interfaces are disclosed. Embodiments comprise a method of changing the characters of a first language displayed on a device interface screen to a second language upon activation of an element on the device. In some embodiments, the element for changing the language is a menu bar item. In one embodiment, the element for changing the language is a mechanical switch. In another embodiment, the element for changing the language of the displayed characters is a touch-screen target. Some embodiments comprise systems such as industrial and personal computers, while other embodiments comprise smaller electronic devices such as cellular telephones, handheld computers, and portable gaming devices.

Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for locating and retrieving specified data content in a database, wherein data in the database is derived from recorded speech. While the data usefully comprises compressed digital audio or video data files associated with the recorded speech, retrieval of the specified content requires decompression of only a portion of the compressed data. In one useful embodiment comprising a method for locating specified content of the above type, a compressed audio file comprising recorded speech is converted into a corresponding text file, wherein the text file is divided into multiple text file segments, each having a unique identifier. A searchable index is constructed from the text file, wherein the index comprises a number of index elements, each index element associated with particular information located in one or more of the text file segments.

Abstract: A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer usable code for identifying a set of foreground pixels in an image and a set of background pixels from pixels in the image. The set of foreground pixels is quantized using a first level of quantization to form a set of quantized foreground pixels, and the set of background pixels is quantized using as second level of quantization to form a set of quantized background pixels.

Abstract: RFID tags to provide a relatively low power and power conserving wireless communication system to dynamically and automatically transfer all preselected data developed in designated digital devices to a centralized data processing system. Inclusion, in the target mobile wireless devices from which data is to be transferred, of an RFID tag, preferably passive, to minimize power consumption that is conventionally recognizable by a short range RF transceiver in the computer system to which data is to be transferred. Thus, each mobile wireless device being tracked includes a short range RFID tag, a short range RF transceiver and storage means for the digital data developed by the device that is to be transferred.

Abstract: Systems, methods and media for simulation of integrated hardware and software designs are disclosed. More particularly, hardware and/or software for synchronizing cycle timers of an integrated hardware and software design are disclosed. One embodiment provides a system for simulating an integrated design. Embodiments may include one or more software components each having a single cycle timer and one or more hardware components each having a single cycle timer. Embodiments may also include a cycle synchronizer in communication with the one or more software components and the one or more hardware components that is adapted to call once per cycle the single cycle timers of the one or more software components and the one or more hardware components. In a further embodiment, the cycle synchronizer may be further adapted to call the single cycle timers of the components on the falling edge of the cycle.

Abstract: Systems, methods and media for improving security of a packet-switched network are disclosed. More particularly, hardware and/or software for injecting noise into a network to deter code sniffers are disclosed. One embodiment provides a method for transmitting information over a network. Embodiments may include assembling by a sender computer system one or more packets where at least one of the packets has an encrypted payload and inserting by the sender computer system Additive Gaussian White Noise into one or more of the packets. Embodiments may also include transmitting by the sender computer system the one or more packets with inserted Additive Gaussian White Noise over a network. Further embodiments may include inserting Additive Gaussian White Noise into a packet containing encrypted payload. Other further embodiments may include inserting Additive Gaussian White Noise into an Addtive Gaussian White Noise packet.

Abstract: A method is provided, wherein a virtual internal master clock is used in connection with a RISC CPU. The RISC CPU comprises a number of concurrently operating function units, wherein each unit runs according to its own clocks, including multiple-stage totally unsynchronized clocks, in order to process a stream of instructions. The method includes the steps of generating a virtual model master clock having a clock cycle, and initializing each of the function units at the beginning of respectively corresponding processing cycles. The method further includes operating each function unit during a respectively corresponding processing cycle to carry out a task with respect to one of the instructions, in order to produce a result. Respective results are all evaluated in synchronization, by means of the master clock. This enables the instruction processing operation to be modeled using a sequential computer language, such as C or C++.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer program product are disclosed for improving video-on-demand (VOD) content delivery in regional networks. A VOD server is coupled to a global VOD network. The global VOD network is coupled to multiple different regional VOD networks. Multiple different clients are coupled to each one of the regional VOD networks. The server receives a request from a first client in a first one of the regional VOD networks to receive a particular video. The first client is coupled to the first one of the regional VOD networks. The server determines whether a second client that is also coupled to the first one of the regional VOD networks has a first block of the particular video. If the second client does have the first block of the video, the server transmits an instruction to the second client to transmit the particular video to the first client.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for configuring routing devices in a network data processing system. A routing change is identified in the network data processing system. In response to the routing change being identified, a node topology is generated for a set of routing devices present in the network data processing system. A master network configuration table is built at a routing device within the set of routing devices. The network configuration table contains configuration data from the routing devices in the node topology. The master network configuration table is broadcast to the routing devices in the network data processing system.

Abstract: A system for expediting the transmission of packets in a communication network wherein packets of data are transmitted from a transmitting station to an addressed receiving station via a plurality of routers that determine the path of the transmission. The system comprises means for transmitting packets, each comprising a payload section including the content data being transmitted, a header including the address of the receiving station and a plurality of other headers in combination with means for substituting a code item to represent the plurality of headers other than the address header in the packet. Because of the redundancy in the variety of platforms, operating systems and like protocols that Web document packets are committed to support, the plurality of headers that are to be represented by code may be readily subject to entropic encoding.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for an adaptive two-dimension inter-packet header compression for faster and more efficient transmission of a broadcasting packet. Currently, uneven speeds exist between the originator and the final receptors because certain router paths are slower than the rest of the other pathways, limiting the overall performance to the performance of the slowest pathways. This current art results in bottlenecks at certain routers, causing the overall speed of transmission to be slowed. The present invention is directed to optimizing the slowest and least efficient routers, so that the bottlenecks that currently exist in the current art of transmitting broadcasting packets are eliminated. This is achieved through the temporary storage of the broadcasting payload in a coded header inside broadcasting routers. The coded header is transmitted to a receiving server, and its corresponding broadcasting payload is transmitted to the coded header, to form a full broadcasting packet at the receiving server.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for fast communication with a symbol linked object based system is useful in allowing a user to maintain control over the user's system when receiving an E-mail with a large attachment. The current art requires selecting and downloading an E-mail attachment to determine its size, which can result in a time consuming transfer of unwanted data to the user's system and causes the user to lose control of the system during the lengthy downloading process. The present invention allows separate files to be created and stored with the E-mail attachment while converting information about the size of the attachment into a set of symbols linked to the attachment sent to the E-mail recipient with the E-mail. The recipient can then determine whether to select, download or delete the attachment to which the symbols are linked.
