Publication number: 20230288240Abstract: A method for determining mass flow according to the differential pressure method on an internal combustion engine, includes calculating a mass flow signal by using sensors of a mass flow meter to measure a differential pressure, an absolute pressure and a temperature of the mass flow. The mass flow signal is filtered by an evaluation unit of the mass flow meter and the filtered mass flow signal is sent to an engine control. The filter parameters are matched to a measurement situation by the evaluation unit. In a first measurement situation, the filter parameters are set on the basis of an analysis of pulsations of the current measured values and in a second measurement situation, the filter parameters are set on the basis of status data of the internal combustion engine transmitted by the engine control unit. A mass flow meter and a probe are also provided.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 2, 2020Publication date: September 14, 2023Inventors: Oliver Betz, Ben Abdelkader Haithem

Patent number: 8065925Abstract: The static pressure, the differential pressure, and the temperature must be known in order to be able to determine the mass flow rate, the volumetric flow under standard conditions, or the enthalpy flow of a fluid. Desired variables are detected by individual sensors located in an integrated sensor unit, and the values detected by the individual sensors are then processed in a computing unit that is also integrated in the sensor unit. The sensor unit outputs a value, which also takes other parameters and/or physical constants into account, to a control unit that is connected downstream. Some of the computing is advantageously done in the sensor unit so that some load is relieved from the control unit.Type: GrantFiled: July 13, 2006Date of Patent: November 29, 2011Assignee: Systec Controls Mess- und Regelungstechnik GmbHInventor: Oliver Betz

Patent number: 7735371Abstract: The invention relates to a dynamic pressure probe for universal use, which enables different types of mounting of the connection lines without complex adapters and/or round arches. The dynamic pressure probe comprises a probe head inside of which channels run, which lead to the part of the probe that, during a measurement, is located in the medium to be measured, and which lead to adapters mounted on the probe head, said probe head having a rectangular cross-section. The axes of the channels are located on the diagonals that run between two corners of the probe head, and the channels can be reached from two outer surfaces of the probe head via transversal boreholes.Type: GrantFiled: January 19, 2006Date of Patent: June 15, 2010Assignee: Systec Controls Mess-und Regelungstechnik GmbHInventor: Oliver Betz

Patent number: 7270001Abstract: A method for ultrasonic measurement of the running time and quantity of a flowing fluid is provided, in which the running time of an ultrasonic signal (70) is measured counter to and in a direction of the flow (5), wherefrom the flow rate of the fluid is determined. Reflections of the ultrasonic signal (70) from particles in the fluid are also detected in order to determine a concentration of particles. A device for carrying out the method includes two ultrasonic transducers which can be switched from a transmission mode to a reception mode. The ultrasonic transducers in the transmission mode transmit ultrasonic signals that are received by the ultrasonic transducers in the reception mode once the signal (70) has penetrated the fluid to be analyzed. At least one of the ultrasonic transducerscan be switched from the transmission mode to the reception mode so that it can receive reflections (E1, E2, E3) of its transmitted signal. Additional transducers can be provided that also receive the reflections.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 2003Date of Patent: September 18, 2007Assignee: Systec Controls Mess und Regeltechnik GmbHInventor: Oliver Betz
