The sensor initially has a measurement variable sensor which is used to convert the measurement variable into an electric signal. A transducer is used to convert the electric signal into measurement data. The sensor has a first communication interface for transferring the measurement data and other data in accordance with a first protocol and a second communication interface for transferring the measurement data and other data in accordance with a second protocol. The sensor also has a data exchange unit for exchanging data between the transducer, the first communication interface and the second communication interface.

The sensor has an interface with multiple functions. The interface is used initially for transferring coded measurement data so that the measurement data can be read from the sensor. The interface is also used in the transfer of configuration data for the configuration of the measurement variable sensor and for transferring a supply voltage for the electric supply of the sensor. The sensor can be fully operated by the individual interface.

Abstract: A method for selecting advertisement in a Set Top Box (STB) of a television network comprises receiving advertisement selection information for one or a plurality of advertisement associations. Each advertisement association associates an advertisement space with an advertisement. The advertisement selection information corresponds for each advertisement association to a value of probability for selecting the advertisement for the advertisement space. A selection of an advertisement for a determined advertisement space is triggered and a random value or a pseudo-random value generated. An advertisement is selected using the random value or the pseudo-random value, by selecting a determined advertisement association that associates an advertisement with the determined advertisement space and for which the corresponding advertisement selection information has a value of probability that relates to the random value or the pseudo-random value.
