  • Patent number: 10479670
Abstract: Typical dispensers of liquids such as for beer often induce froth into the liquid as it is dispensed. This is not always desirable especially if too much froth is produced leading to waste. A liquid dispensing device (10) comprising a plurality of tubes (30) each tube having a diameter less than 2 mm is described to address the issue of over-frothing.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 8869847
Abstract: There is provided a liquid dispensing fitment for fitting to a dispensing tap for appropriately directing a flow of liquid from the dispensing tap. The dispensing fitment comprises a flexible tube, a non-elastic adjustment element operatively coupled to the flexible tube to place the flexible tube in a curved position. A locking element holds the non-elastic adjustment element in a position such that the flexible tube is held in a curved position in which liquid is dispensed from an end portion of the flexible tube in a required direction. The length of the non-elastic adjustment element can be varied by locking a required length of the non-elastic adjustment element relative to the flexible tube in order to vary the angle of curvature of the flexible tube.

  • Publication number: 20090266443
Abstract: A beer dispensing device comprises a fitment (7) for fitting to the tap (9), a sensor (24) for sensing the quantity of beer dispensed from the tap (9) on turning on of the tap, a pivot lever (4) and arm (1) for engaging the tap (9), and an electronic control box (3) for causing the pivot lever (4) to be rotated under spring (28) action to turn off the tap (9) in response to an indication from the sensor (24) that the required quantity of beer has been dispensed from the tap (9). Such a device is particularly applicable to the dispensing of beer at a public bar as it allows substantially hands free operation after the bartender has initiated dispensing by opening of the tap, and therefore allows more flexible and faster service through multi-tasking by the bartender.

  • Publication number: 20080286736
Abstract: An orthopaedic skeletal joint demonstration aid for demonstrating surgical orthopaedic techniques comprises a first facsimile bone portion (2), a second facsimile bone portion (3), and adjustable holding mechanism (5) for holding the first facsimile bone portion (2) in a required anatomical orientation with respect to the second facsimile bone portion (3) for the purposes of a surgical orthopaedic procedure. The holding mechanism (5) is capable of being locked in position so as to orientate the first facsimile bone portion (2) at the required angle. This enables the facsimile bone portions (2) and (3) to be correctly aligned for carrying out a required surgical procedure, and for the alignment to be subsequently changed for a further surgical procedure.

  • Patent number: 7384268
Abstract: An orthopaedic skeletal joint demonstration aid for demonstrating surgical orthopaedic techniques includes first and second joint portions capable of being manipulated relative to one another to mimic the action of a skeletal joint. The first joint portion is detachably secured to one end of an elongate first shaft portion to enable replacement of the first joint portion. An adjustable holding mechanism holds a part of the first shaft portion remotely of the one end in a required position such that the first joint portion is at the correct anatomical orientation for the purposes of the required surgical orthopaedic procedure. The holding mechanism includes an adjustable ball and socket joint and a locking mechanism for locking the ball and socket joint when the first shaft portion is in the required position. A foot plate is provided for holding the second joint portion, and the second shaft portion in the required position.

  • Patent number: 6524111
Abstract: An orthopaedic hip demonstration aid for demonstrating the fitting of an orthopaedic prosthesis to a human skeletal hip comprises a facsimile femur part including an elongate main portion incorporating an axial passage and consisting of two detachable parts secured together by magnetic attraction and received within the passage, and a detachable sheath portion consisting of two detachable parts secured together by magnetic attraction and received within the parts. The parts define a further axial passage adapted to detachably receive a shaft of the prosthesis such that a head of the prosthesis projects from an end of the femur part. Such an orthopaedic hip demonstration aid may be used to demonstrate surgical orthopaedic techniques in hip replacement.

  • Patent number: 6074214
Abstract: A soft organ demonstration aid, such as a heart demonstration aid, is provided for demonstrating ultrasound or surgical techniques. The aid comprises a plurality of facsimile soft organ portions having joining surfaces and connected together in correct anatomical positions along a plurality of dividing planes by means of interengaging connecting members, such as magnets for example, on the joining surfaces. When all the portions are joined together, the aid mimics a whole soft organ, such as a human heart. Furthermore the portions are capable of being dismantled relative to one another along each of the dividing planes, in order to demonstrate a respective internal view of the organ corresponding to each plane. Thus the aid may be used to demonstrate the relative positions of internal features of the organ such as may be observed in ultrasonic scanning along different cross-sections of an actual organ, the views simulating the corresponding views obtained during actual scanning.

  • Patent number: 5672059
Abstract: An orthopaedic human skeletal demonstration aid for demonstrating surgical orthopaedic techniques consists of a facsimile of at least part of a human vertebral column including a plurality of vertebral elements simulating the external appearance of human vertebrae, and a plurality of intervertebral disk elements disposed intermediate the vertebral elements. The vertebral elements and the intervertebral disk elements are provided with central apertures and are releasably secured together by an externally screwthreaded flexible rod extending through apertures and provided with nuts at its ends for securely clamping the elements together. Such an aid is capable of being flexed to simulate anatomical distortions of the human spine, and can be used for demonstrating a wide range of replacement or repair techniques, including fitting of a surgical implant.

  • Patent number: 5607311
Abstract: An orthopaedic human skeletal bone demonstration aid for demonstrating surgical orthopaedic techniques comprises a facsimile human skeletal bone having two joint portions and interconnected by an elongate hollow shaft. The facsimile bone comprises two separable component parts, each consisting of one of the joint portions and a portion of the shaft, which are detachably connected together by a projection on one part engaging within a receiving recess in the other part in such a manner as to provide intercommunication between canal portions within the parts. Such a demonstration aid can be produced by moulding in a straightforward manner, and has the advantage that, if only one of the component parts has been damaged or destroyed in demonstrating a particular surgical technique, only that part of the aid requires replacing in order to enable the aid to be re-used.
