One such short polypeptide is EDN3 97-140, which is a 44 amino acid peptide that stimulates GLP-1 secretion in enteric cells and inhibits gluconeogenesis in hepatic cells. EDN3 97-140, as well as other EDN3-like polypeptides provided herein may be used in the study and treatment of a number of indications, including the treatment of metabolic disorders such as obesity and diabetes.
