  • Patent number: 7287696
Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and method for decoding barcodes using mobile device. Generally, the barcode image is acquired via a digital camera attached to the mobile device. After the barcode image has been acquired, software located on the mobile device enhances the barcode image and subsequently decodes the barcode information. The barcode information is then transmitted to a server via a wireless network. The server processes the barcode information and transmits media content related to the barcode back to the mobile device.

  • Patent number: 7245780
Abstract: This present invention discloses a system and method for enhancing images of barcodes and other similar objects taken by the digital camera connected to or embedded in a mobile device. This filter works by converting the image into its equivalent gray scale. The algorithm then computes the mean pixel intensity value of a row of pixels in the image. The row is divided into sections and the mean pixel intensity of each section is also calculated. The pixels in each section are processed according to the relation of the relative mean intensities of the row and the section. Once each pixel has been processed, the image is reassembled from its divided sections.

  • Publication number: 20050029356
Abstract: The present invention enables the transfer of data from barcode scanners to computers for use with various software applications. An Active-X plug-in is downloaded to the user's computer the first time they access an application and need to use the scanner to upload information they have scanned using the barcode scanner. The Active-X plug-in aids the transfer and translation of data from the user's computer to the dedicated servers through the application. The Active-X plug-in is compiled code that resides on the user's machine making function calls to system files that interact with the barcode scanner by communicating with the machine's COM ports. Once the Active-X plug-in gathers the data from the scanner, the data can be used by the host application or posted to the Internet via XML.

  • Publication number: 20050029354
Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and method for encoding and decoding combination barcodes which contain two or more items of data. Generally, the device encodes a combination barcode by assembling a string of codes associated with each item of data. A barcode is then created from the string of codes by feeding it into a barcode generator. Both one and two-dimensional barcode symbologies may be utilized to create the combination barcode. To decode a combination barcode, a user first scans and uploads the combination barcode to a computer application. The application then identifies the uploaded combination barcodes utilizing a metric and separates the combination barcodes into their constituent parts.

  • Publication number: 20050033599
Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and method for creating custom barcoded documents from preexisting lists. A user of the system first selects a list containing the desired products and item codes. Once the list has been selected, the user selects the desired format and layout of the catalog. A program located on the computer then generates the barcoded catalog utilizing the user's selected list and catalog format preferences. The document can then be saved to a file or printed out for ordering use.

  • Publication number: 20050004844
Abstract: The invention is disclosed and declared to upgrade any existing e-commerce web sites with a new feature to allow/enable barcode scanning services without requiring a change of the customer's online environment or a large integration process with the current e-commerce application provider. The additional barcode scanner enabled services and products, as the one referred to herein as ScanClik™, are available for the customer either on a floating pop-up web application interface (on top of the current web site) or a browser toolbar. Thanks to the invention, very easily and without undue interference with the existing e-commerce web-site, the web-site customers have the ability to upload barcode data from any barcode scanner device to an intermediary window and eventually post it to the current shopping cart of the customer, and the ability to print customized catalogs and labels (with barcodes) from any list displayed on the e-commerce application and from the shopping cart.

  • Publication number: 20020016750
Abstract: The invention comprises the system and methods for Shoppers to facilitate their Shopping experience by creating and managing Accounts (to store their Billing, Shipping, Credit Card information and Shopping Lists or Folders) through an interactive Communication Network, such as the Internet, using Barcodes Scanners and other computing or communication appliances. Customers or shoppers upload barcodes using a personal scanner to the centralized data repository which stores this information in the User's folders, view product information in the Products Database on these appliances; organize their Shopping Lists (or Folders) by dragging and dropping products from one Folder to another; and use folders to directly check out and place Orders without having to re-enter their billing, shipping, and credit card information—thus accomplishing purchases with the minimum data entry or actions.
