  • Patent number: 9953138
Abstract: Minimizing improper dosage of a drug admixture (including a single primary drug component and at least one second drug component). For each drug component in the drug admixture, receiving a name of the drug component along with its dosage unit, a maximum dose warning level and a maximum concentration warning level. Receiving a concentration for each of the single primary drug component and the at least one secondary drug component; and a dose setting of only the primary drug component. Automatically calculating a dose of each of the at least one secondary drug component. Generating an alert when: (i) the received dose setting of the primary drug component or calculated dose setting of the at least one secondary drug component exceeds the dose warning level; or (ii) the received concentration of the primary drug component or the at least one secondary drug component exceeds the concentration warning level.

  • Publication number: 20120165794
Abstract: Devices and related methods are provided for the controlled delivery of a therapeutic to a targeted location within a body. More particularly, methods and devices are provided for controlling the rate of passage of an orally administered pill through a body, as well as for controlling the delivery of a therapeutic within the pill at a specific location within the body. Various types of devices, generally referred to herein as “catchers,” are provided that can actively catch a pill as it passes through a body. The catcher can hold the pill at a specific location within the body until a predetermined event occurs, such as partial or complete administration of a therapeutic within the pill. The catcher can then release the pill upon command and/or upon the occurrence of the predetermined event to allow the pill to pass out of the body. In other embodiments, various types of pills are provided that can actively engage a catcher and remain engaged with the catcher until a predetermined event occurs.

  • Publication number: 20070245258
Abstract: A graphical user interface of an external control device for controlling operation of an implantable medical device while minimizing the occurrence of human error. The graphical user interface displays the operating parameter of the implantable medical device simultaneously as an Arabic numeral and a graphical representation. When a parameter value is adjusted, the current and adjusted values are simultaneously displayed as both an Arabic numeral and graphical representation. Other means are described for increasing the probability of detection of an error during entry of an operating parameter value prior to implementation. Execution of the graphical user interface is subject to interruption. When function of the graphical user interface programming is restored operation resumes from that which it left off prior to interruption.
