Publication number: 20250065262Abstract: A process for treating a flue gas produced in at least one upstream unit operating at a nominal operating pressure, the flue gas containing from 5 mol % to 90 mol % of CO2 on a wet basis and being at a pressure between 0.5 and 2 bar absolute. The process includes treating, via at least one downstream treatment unit, all or virtually all of the stream of flue gas originating from the upstream unit or upstream units, thereby producing, from the flue gas, a gaseous or liquid stream rich in CO2 which contains more than 50 mol % of CO2. Then enabling the stream of flue gas to communicate, between the upstream unit and the downstream unit with a stack opening to the atmosphere, and this outlet line is left open or partially open in nominal operation thereby equilibrating the pressure in the stream of flue gas to atmospheric pressure.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2022Publication date: February 27, 2025Applicant: L'Air Liquide, Societe Anonyme pour l'Etude et l’Exploitation des Procedes Georges ClaudeInventors: Marine ANDRICH, Jean-Marc PEYRON, Bhadri PRASAD, Ludovic GRANADOS, Olivier de CAYEUX

Patent number: 9945606Abstract: Methods and apparatus for cryogenic distillation of air. In a system of air separation columns, all the air is taken to a high pressure which is 5 to 10 bar greater than a medium pressure. A portion of air, between 10% and 50% of the high pressure air stream, is boosted in a cold booster. This boosted air is then sent to an exchanger and a portion of it liquefies at the cold end of the exchanger. Part of the air is sent to one column of the column system, and another fraction is partly expanded in a Claude turbine. After expansion in the turbine, the air is sent to a medium pressure column, and a liquid stream is withdrawn for one of the columns of the system. The withdrawn stream is pressurized and vaporizes in the exchange line. The cold booster is coupled to either an expansion turbine, an electric motor, or a combination of the two.Type: GrantFiled: April 6, 2004Date of Patent: April 17, 2018Assignee: L'AIR LIQUIDE SOCIETE ANONYME POUR L'ETUDE ET L'EXPLOITATION DES PROCEDES GEORGES CLAUDEInventors: Patrick Le Bot, Olivier De Cayeux, Frédéric Judas

Publication number: 20130340472Abstract: In a method for the liquefaction of a gas containing at least 60 mol % of CO2, in order to produce at least one liquid product, a first feed gas is compressed from a first pressure to a second pressure and cooled so as to form a liquid or supercritical flow, at least part of the liquid or supercritical flow is cooled in a heat exchanger in order to form a cyclic liquid at the second pressure, the cyclic liquid is divided into at least two fractions, including an auxiliary fraction, at least one fraction being vaporized in the exchanger by means of heat exchange with the liquid or supercritical flow part, and where there are at least two fractions, each one is vaporized at a different pressure, and the at least one gas formed is then compressed and mixed with the first feed gas, the auxiliary fraction either forming the liquid product or one of the liquid products, or being treated by separation at a sub-ambient temperature in at least one separating means in order to form the liquid product.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 16, 2012Publication date: December 26, 2013Applicant: L'AIR LIQUIDE SOCIETE ANONYME POUR I'ETUDE ET I'EXPLOITATION DES PROCEDES GEORGES CLAUDEInventors: Olivier De Cayeux, Arthur Darde, Herve Le Bihan, Xavier Traversac

Publication number: 20090078001Abstract: Methods and apparatus for air separation by cryogenic distillation in a double or triple air separation column. The column in the system with the highest operating pressure is said to be operating at medium pressure. All the air to be distilled is pressurized to a high pressure, which is about 5 bar greater than the medium pressure. The air is purified at this high pressure, and a portion of the purified air is cooled in a heat exchange line, while another portion is expanded in a turbine. Part of the cooled air is drawn from the exchange line with a cold booster, which is mechanically coupled to at least one turbine. An energy dissipation device is also provided which is coupled to the turbine not coupled to the cold booster. The energy dissipation device is either another booster, an oil break system, or an electrical generator.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 16, 2008Publication date: March 26, 2009Applicants: l'Exploitation des ProInventors: Patrick Le Bot, Olivier De Cayeux
