  • Publication number: 20240089902
Abstract: A method for the geolocalization of a base station, referred to as the “sought base station”, of an access network of a wireless communication system. The wireless communication system also includes at least one terminal capable of transmitting messages bound for the access network. A message transmitted by a terminal can be received simultaneously by a plurality of base stations of the access network. The geographical position of the sought base station is determined as a function of the geographical position of at least one other base station of the access network, referred to as the “reference base station.” The geographical position of the reference base station is known. The reference base station having received a message transmitted by the terminal that has likewise been received by the sought base station.

  • Patent number: 11442133
Abstract: A method for estimating the geographical position of a terminal of interest, among a panel of terminals of a wireless communication system. For each terminal of the panel, a time signature including values measured for each terminal during a predetermined observation period is determined. Values of similarity between the time signatures of the terminals of the panel is calculated, a similarity value calculated for two terminals representing the probability of the terminals being moved together or having been located at the same place during the observation period. Various terminals of the panel are partitioned into different groups depending on the similarity values. The geographical position of the terminal of interest is estimated as a function of the available geolocation data for at least one other terminal of the group to which the terminal of interest belongs.

  • Publication number: 20220221551
Abstract: A method for geolocating a terminal of a wireless communication system from measurements of a parameter representative of a radio signal exchanged between the terminal and base stations of the communication system. The method uses fixed base stations and a mobile base station which is displaced in a determined search area. During a predefined search period, the terminal emits several radio signals to the fixed base stations and the mobile base station. A precise geographical position can then be determined, on the one hand, from the measurements carried out during the search period for the different base stations, and on the other hand, from the geographical positions of the fixed base stations and from the geographical positions of the mobile base station at the different times of emission of the radio signals by the terminal.

  • Publication number: 20210247481
Abstract: A method for geolocating a terminal of a wireless communication system. A set of reference elements is determined with the aid of messages transmitted by calibration terminals during a calibration phase. Each reference element includes a radio signature and a geographical position of a calibration terminal when a message is transmitted. A refinement phase makes it possible to clean and/or to enrich the set of reference elements by virtue of the identification of points of interest corresponding to preferential positions of transmission of messages by the terminals. During a search phase, the position of a terminal of interest is determined based on its radio signature and of the modified set of reference elements.

  • Patent number: 10976405
Abstract: A method for geolocating a terminal of a wireless communication system, based on a learning method making it possible to estimate the geographical position of a terminal using both a radio signature corresponding to a set of values representative of the quality of radio links existing between the terminal located at the sought position and a plurality of base stations of the wireless communication system, as well as a reference data set associating radio signatures with known geographical positions. To limit the complexity of the learning algorithm and to make it resistant to topology changes of the access network, each radio signature contains a selection of N values among the set of measured values, as well as the geographical positions of the corresponding base stations.

  • Patent number: 10631264
Abstract: A method for estimating the movement of a terminal of interest with respect to an access network. An incoming frequency of a message of interest transmitted by the terminal of interest and received by a pair of base stations of the access network are measured. The incoming frequencies of calibration messages transmitted by calibration terminals and received by the pair of base stations are measured. A differential measurement error according to the incoming frequencies of the calibration messages is estimated. A difference in incoming frequency of the message of interest according to the incoming frequencies of the message of interest and according to the differential measurement error is estimated. The movement of the terminal of interest according to the difference in incoming frequency of the message of interest is estimated.

  • Patent number: 8699591
Abstract: A method and apparatus to reduce the level of quantification noise when transmission power varies with frequency. Power variation is carried out in the analog domain by filtering a frequency band and attenuating a complementary band in two signal analog-processing paths. More precisely, the method for reducing the quantification noise for transmitting a multi-carrier signal comprises an IFFT conversion step, a digital-to-analog conversion step and an analog-processing step of the signal frequencies on a band having a maximal frequency. Moreover, the analog processing step includes at least two processing paths in parallel to the analog signal, in which: for at least one first path, the signal is filtered so as to retain only the frequencies of a low-frequency band and, in parallel in at least one second path, the signal is subjected to gain, amplification or gain attenuation and, in a final step, the signals from the paths are summed.

  • Patent number: 8295301
Abstract: Communication systems that use different physical layer (PHY) protocols can coexist on a communication medium (e.g., a powerline medium) by using an Inter-PHY Protocol (IPP). The different protocols may use different signal modulation schemes but still may have some features in common. The IPP includes a resource sharing mechanism that regulates access to the communication medium by devices functioning as communication devices (for example, devices communicating over a power line). A subset of devices that communicate among each other form a logical network that shares the medium with other logical networks that use either the same PHY protocol or a different PHY protocol.
