Abstract: A diamine compound is proposed as well as polymers, copolymers, polyamic acids, polyamic acid esters, or polyimides based on such compound. The compound is represented by one of the general formulae (Ia) and (Ib). It could be shown that such structures, in particular for a specific choice of the residue B, provide, if e.g. used as orientation layers, a photostable, vertically aligning material with an improved VHR.

Abstract: A device for magnetizing a magnet system preferably having several pulse-generator circuits which are mutually arranged so that their magnetic fields superimpose in a cumulative manner. Each pulse-generator circuit includes a capacitor element, a magnetization coil electrically connected to the capacitor element and a switch element by way of which actuation the magnetization coil can be impinged with a current pulse of a limited pulse duration arising by the discharge of the capacitor element, and thus the build-up of a magnetic field may be triggered. The pulse-generator circuit is built up so that the pulse duration of the current pulse is limited to a value between 10 ?s and 500 ?s. With such short pulse durations, undesirable heating of the magnetization coil is short so that the device may be applied in automatic production installations with cycle times of below 1 s.

Abstract: An incubator (10) comprising a cylindrical tank (11) with a bottom wall (12) and a side wall (13). The tank is provided with a clean or regenerated water supply system (17), a waste water discharge system (18), a device (19) for altering the gas level to avoid supersaturation of gas in the water, a larva feed dispenser (20) and a device (21) for skimming the water surface. The tank further includes a member (22) arranged at the bottom of the tank for generating water currents therein, and a strainer (23) for preventing the larvae from entering the discharge system (18). The current generating member (22) comprises blades located beneath the supply system (17).
