    Abstract: A mobile element of a tire testing device is immobilized relative to a bath of an eutectic alloy by cooling the eutectic alloy to a temperature below its solidus/liquidus, and the mobile element is released by reheating the eutectic alloy to above its solidus/liquidus. Immobilization and release are effected by means of a jacket passing hot or cold fluid.

    Abstract: A tyre testing device comprises a track and a hub mounted on a carriage which can be moved towards and away from the track. The hub can be pivoted about mutually perpendicular axes to simulate changing values of camber angle .beta. and angle of lock .alpha., and the carriage can be pressed towards the track to vary the tyre loading against the track.
