  • Patent number: 7792672
Abstract: A method for converting a voice signal from a source speaker into a converted voice signal with acoustic characteristics similar to those of a target speaker includes the steps of determining (1) at least one function for transforming source speaker acoustic characteristics into acoustic characteristics similar to those of the target speaker using target and source speaker voice samples; and transforming acoustic characteristics of the source speaker voice signal to be converted by applying the transformation function(s). The method is characterized in that the transformation (2) includes the step (44) of applying only a predetermined portion of at least one transformation function to said signal to be converted.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 14, 2005
Date of Patent: September 7, 2010
    Assignee: France Telecom
    Inventors: Olivier Rosec, Taoufik En-Najjary
  • Patent number: 7765101
Abstract: A method of converting a voice signal spoken by a source speaker into a converted voice signal having acoustic characteristics that resemble those of a target speaker. The method includes the following steps: determining (1) at least one function for the transformation of the acoustic characteristics of the source speaker into acoustic characteristics similar to those of the target speaker; and transforming the acoustic characteristics of the voice signal to be converted using the at least one transformation function. The method is characterized in that: (i) the aforementioned transformation function-determining step (1) consists in determining (1) a function for the joint transformation of characteristics relating to the spectral envelope and characteristics relating to the fundamental frequency of the source speaker; and (ii) the transformation includes the application of the joint transformation function.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 9, 2005
Date of Patent: July 27, 2010
    Assignee: France Telecom
    Inventors: Taoufik En-Najjary, Olivier Rosec
  • Patent number: 7643988
Abstract: A method for analyzing fundamental frequency information contained in voice samples includes at least one analysis step (2) for the voice samples which are grouped together in frames in order to obtain information relating to the spectrum and information relating to the fundamental frequency for each sample frame; a step (20) for the determination of a model representing the common characteristics of the spectrum and fundamental frequency of all samples; and a step (30) for determination of a fundamental frequency prediction function exclusively according to spectrum-related in formation on the basis of the model and voice samples.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 2, 2004
Date of Patent: January 5, 2010
    Assignee: France Telecom
    Inventors: Taoufik En-Najjary, Olivier Rosec

  • Publication number: 20080208599
Abstract: Disclosed is a device and method for modifying acoustic characteristics of a speech signal. The method comprises decomposing the signal into a parametric portion and a non-parametric residue; estimating the temporal envelope of the residue; modifying acoustic characteristics of the parametric portion and of the residue in compliance with modification instructions; determining a new temporal envelope for the modified residue using said modification instructions; and synthesizing a modified speech signal from the modified parametric portion and from the residue as modified and with the new temporal envelope.

  • Publication number: 20070276666
Abstract: A method for selecting acoustic units each of which contains a natural speech signal and symbolic parameters involves a stage (4) for determining at least one target symbolic unit sequence; a stage (5) for determining a contextual acoustic model sequence corresponding to the target sequence; a stage (6) for determining an acoustic template on the basis of the contextual acoustic model sequence and a stage (7) for selecting the acoustic unit sequence according to the acoustic template applied to the target symbolic unit sequence. The invention is used for voice synthesis.
