  • Publication number: 20130250603
Abstract: A method and a system for illumination of a personal item, the system comprising at least one light source activated by a textile switch, the light source and the textile switch being secured to a textile substrate and connected by conductors on the textile substrate, the textile substrate being secured on the personal item. The method comprises securing at least one light source and a textile switch on a substrate, connecting the light source and the textile switch by conductors on the substrate, connecting the light source and the textile switch to a powering unit, securing the substrate to the personal item and operating the textile switch.

  • Publication number: 20120144561
Abstract: There is described herein a knitting technique for creating a garment having one or more 3D textile electrodes integrated therein. The knitting technique involves knitting the item with integrated electrodes and transmission channels in one single step. The electrode is knit using conducting thread while a base fabric is knit using non-conducting thread. The electrode is knit on a first needle bed and the base fabric is knit on a second needle bed opposite to and facing the first needle bed, the two needle beds being separated by a few millimeters. During the knitting process, the surface knit on the first needle bed and the surface knit on the second needle bed may be linked using an isolating thread network that is simply deposited, without forming a mesh, on the fabric, in order to provide the three-dimensional effect.

  • Patent number: 7994080
Abstract: An electrically conductive non-woven fabric (10) for heating applications is described and comprises a three-dimensional network (11) of non-woven synthetic fibers (12) which are non-electrically conductive and electrically conductive strands (13) of synthetic fibers or fine metal wires consolidated therewith. The fabric has an intrinsic resistivity in the range of from about 0.05 to 5 m2/kg.

  • Patent number: 6602407
Abstract: An oriented structure for treating a fluid, comprising an inlet end for receiving a fluid to be treated and an outlet end opposite the inlet end and from which a treated fluid is discharged, the fluid being allowed to flow into the structure from the inlet end to the outlet end defining a flowing direction. The oriented structure comprises a juxtaposition of layers of porous material having a different porosity, each layer spanning from the inlet end to the outlet end of the structure whereby in use the layers are oriented generally parallel to the flowing direction of the fluid. The oriented structure is designed so to better control the different biological and physical phenomena related to the accumulation or exchange processes taking place in the structure.
