  • Patent number: 11898309
Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to a system (200; 300; 400; 500) for obtaining methanol from foul condensate (101) of a pulping process. The system (200; 300; 400; 500) comprises a primary stripper (102) arranged to strip the foul condensate (101) from pollutants, whereby a first methanol-containing condensate is obtained from the polluted stripper off gases (SOGs). The system (200; 300; 400; 500) also comprises a first acidification unit (202) arranged to acidify the first methanol-containing condensate. Further, the system (200; 300; 400; 500) comprises a secondary stripper (204) arranged to strip the acidified first methanol-containing condensate from pollutants to obtain a second methanol-containing condensate, and a distillation column (107) arranged to distil the second methanol-containing condensate from the secondary stripper (204) so as to obtain methanol.

  • Patent number: 6790313
Abstract: A method to remove sulfides and other volatile contaminants from liquor vapor condensate in a pulp manufacturing process, where the mentioned liquor vapor condensate is fed into a stripper, which is part of a closed loop system including the stripper, a regenerative thermal oxidization process (RTO) and a SO2 scrubber, in which loop a gas is circulated, preferably air, and such components formed or stripped off, in this loop whereafter the circulating gas is stripped off sulfides and other volatile components from the liquor vapor condensate, whereafter the gas stream is fed into a RTO process, where the stripped off contaminants are combusted are under formation of SO2 and thereafter the SO2 enriched gas is led to a SO2 scrubber, where preferably alkali is used as absorption medium, and thereafter the circulating gas is returned back into the stripper.

  • Patent number: 6210455
Abstract: An evaporation apparatus for evaporation of, for example, spent liquor from pulp cooking. The apparatus has a vertical cylinder that has evaporation surfaces disposed therein. An outlet opening is defined in a widened part of the cylinder to receive driven-off steam. A skirt is disposed in the cylinder and surrounds the evaporated liquid and driven-off steam and has a diameter that is smaller than a diameter of the widened part. The skirt has an open bottom and a skirt opening is defined in a portion of the skirt that is facing away from the outlet opening.

  • Patent number: 6024833
Abstract: Provided is a process for removing metals from a bleaching plant spent liquor and recovering a chelating agent which includes the steps of: heating a spent liquor containing a chelate comprising metals bound in a chelating agent to a temperature of at least about 140.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 5993601
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for producing polysulphide by means of oxidizing sulphide in spent liquors from kraft cellulose cooking. The process is characterized in that green liquor is firstly enriched in sulphide and then oxidized.

  • Patent number: 5944950
Abstract: The process for the final evaporation has at least two evaporation appliances. These appliances are coupled in series with respect to the black liquor and in parallel with the live steam (primary steam), which drives the evaporation, and with the secondary steam that is generated by the evaporation. The pressure of the primary steam that is supplied to the appliance(s) where the liquor concentration is at the highest concentration is greater than the pressure of the primary steam supplied to the other appliances where the liquor concentration is not so high.
