  • Patent number: 6370243
Abstract: In a telecommunication system comprising a telephone exchange (LE), an access node (AN) connected to the telephone exchange via a standard V5 interface and a data network (DN), a procedure for setting up a direct data connection between the access node and the data network from a terminal device. According to the invention, a data network subscriber is created in the access node (AN), and when the data network subscriber starts call setup, this is not signalled to the local exchange (LE) according to the normal V5 practice. The data network subscriber's call setup request is handled locally in the access node, where also a dial tone is generated for the data network subscriber. A data connection between the data network subscriber and the data network is set up directly from the access node on the basis of the dialing given by the data network subscriber.

  • Patent number: 6324281
Abstract: The invention relates to a procedure for the processing of an unexpected disconnect request in an access node (AN) which is connected to a local exchange (LE) over a V5 interface. In the access node (AN), call setdown is effected by means of a disconnect message, which is sent from the local exchange (LE) and on the basis of which the call resources in the local exchange (LE) are released. According to the invention, the resources reserved in the access node (AN) for the call are preserved. Moreover, the local exchange (LE) is informed that the subscriber is busy, thus preventing the occurrence of an undefined condition between the local exchange (LE) and the access node (AN).

  • Patent number: 6289093
Abstract: Procedure for connecting a subscriber to a telephone exchange in a data communication system comprising a telephone exchange (LE) with a number of subscribers defined in it, an access network (AN) connected to the telephone exchange via a first V5 interface (V5) and comprising a first access node (AN1), a second access node (AN2), which is connected to the telephone exchange, and a subscriber terminal (TE), which is connected to the local exchange via the access network and/or a concentrator. According to the invention, the second access node (AN2) is connected to the first access node (AN1) via a second V5 interface, the connection between the subscriber and the telephone exchange (LE) being this set up by cascading two V5 interfaces.

  • Patent number: 6278688
Abstract: The present invention relates to a procedure for ensuring the operation of signalling channels in a V5 interface between a local exchange (LE) and an access node (AN). The interface includes at least two links (L), in conjunction with redefinition of the interface composition. Redefinition generally involves making changes in the V5 interface data, such as the location of signalling channels on the links. According to the invention, the operation of protected channels in conjunction with restarting is ensured by starting the protected channels on the channels defined for them in the new composition and on the channels to which they were transferred in conjunction with the protection switch-over.

  • Patent number: 6259784
Abstract: Procedure for accomplishing PSTN-mapping in a telecommunication system comprising a telephone exchange (LE) with a number of subscribers defined in it, a first access node (AN1), which is connected to the telephone exchange via a first V5 interface (V5), a second access node (AN2), which is connected to the first access node (AN1) via a second V5 interface (V5′), and terminal equipment (TE) connected to the second access node (AN2), the connection between the subscriber and the telephone exchange (LE) being set up by cascading the two V5 interfaces. The signalling sequences and message decoding in PSTN-mapping are exclusively taken care of by the telephone exchange (LE) and the second access node (AN2), and the signalling is transmitted transparently through the first access node (AN1) without the first access node participating in the decoding of the signalling.

  • Patent number: 6073008
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for accomplishing a register recall from a subscriber unit of a radio system providing a wireless local loop, the radio system comprising a subscriber network element and base stations to transmit telecommunication signals between the subscriber units and a public switched telephone network. To obtain a register recall in a simple and fast manner, a register recall frame is transmitted from the subscriber unit in a conversion state of the unit to the subscriber network element, a message is awaited from the subscriber network element about receiving the frame, and diallings input from a user interface of the subscriber unit are transmitted on a speech path via the subscriber network unit to the public switched telephone network. The invention also relates to a subscriber unit and a subscriber network element.

  • Patent number: 5970415
Abstract: A method and a subscriber unit and a subscriber network element, in a radio system provided with a wireless local loop, for handling a collision of an outgoing call from the subscriber unit and a terminating call at the subscriber unit. When the collision is detected, the switching of the outgoing call is interrupted, a release frame is transmitted to the subscriber unit, a busy tone is transmitted from the subscriber unit to a subscriber in response to the release frame, a calling is transmitted to the subscriber unit, and the terminating call is switched to the subscriber unit after responding to the calling.

  • Patent number: 5933786
Abstract: A subscriber network element of a radio system provides a wireless local loop for transmitting telecommunication signals between subscriber stations and an exchange. To enable a register recall, the subscriber network element comprises a timer, a buffer arranged to buffer dialing frames, the timer being arranged to start measuring a new time interval upon reception of each dialing frame, and a control unit arranged to transmit a stand-by message and a register recall message, and to initialize the timer to measure a time interval of a predetermined length in response to the register recall frame, and to forward a "dialing received" frame and any digits buffered in the buffer as the time interval measured by the timer elapses.

  • Patent number: 5898921
Abstract: In a method of monitoring the operation of a subscriber unit in a telecommunication system, in order to detect possible malfunctions as early as possible, a call reserved in signaling for some other purpose is transmitted to the subscriber unit, whereupon a call to which the subscriber unit automatically responds is selected as the call. A message about receiving the call is awaited from the subscriber unit, and, if not such message is received from the subscriber unit, the call is repeated until the subscriber unit has left a predetermined number of transmitted calls unanswered, whereupon an alarm is given.

  • Patent number: 5848138
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transmitting tariff data via radio-frequency signals to a chargeable subscriber unit (1) communicating with a telecommunication network (7). In order to charge the user of the subscriber unit as fairly as possible, a tariff frame corresponding to a lump sum is transmitted to the subscriber unit (1), charge-metering signals received from the telecommunication network (7) are counted, and when the monetary value corresponding to the number of the counted charge-metering signals exceeds a predetermined threshold value, a new tariff frame corresponding to a lump sum is transmitted to the subscriber unit (1). The invention also relates to a system where the method according to the invention can be applied.
