  • Patent number: 7158877
Abstract: The invention relates to remote control of an unmanned aerial vehicle, UAV, (100) from a control station (110) by means of a wireless command link (115). The UAV (100) may be controlled in an autonomous mode wherein it flies according to a primary route (R1, R1?) defined by a first set of predefined waypoints (WP1–WP8, IP). The UAV (100) may also be controlled in a manual mode wherein it flies according to an alternative primary route (R1?) defined in real-time by control commands received via the wireless command link (115). Flight control parameters are monitored in both modes, and in case a major alarm condition occurs, the UAV (100) is controlled to follow an emergency route (R2?) defined by a second set of predefined waypoints (HP1–HP7, TP1–TP9, IP). Particularly, a major alarm condition is activated if an engine failure is detected.

  • Patent number: 6782742
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for synthetically calculating redundant attitude and redundant heading by means of existing data in an aircraft. In one embodiment the heading of the aircraft is available and in another embodiment the heading is calculated from a magnetic heading sensor. When the heading is available (redundant heading) attitude is calculated by weighting together the signals from and angular rate gyros (2) in the aircraft's flight control system, information from air data (altitude, speed, angle of attack) as well as information about heading (redundant heading). When the heading is not available, attitude and heading are calculated in one embodiment with the aid of Kalman filters (11, 22) by weighting together the signals from the angular rate gyros in the aircraft's control system, information from air data (altitude, speed, angle of attack and sideslip angle) as well as information from a magnetic heading detector existing in the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 6619241
Abstract: An internal combustion engine and a method for operating the multi-stroke combustion engine is disclosed. The engine is provided with individual variably controlled inlet and outlet valves in each cylinder. Operation of the engine involves controlling the inlet and outlet valves so that the opening and closing of the valves are adapted to a second stroke mode that is different from a first stroke mode in which the engine is presently running. Fuel injected into the cylinders is controlled so that it is injected prior to an expansion stroke. The transition from the first stroke mode to the second stroke mode occurs independent of the operating condition of the engine throughout the entire operating range of the engine.

  • Patent number: 6467470
Abstract: The present invention relates to a fuel system as well as a method for controlling the same. More specifically, it relates to a fuel system of motor vehicles adapted to be powered by alcohol-containing fuels, and specifically by alcohol-containing fuels and by petrol, so-called Flexible Fuel Vehicles (FFV). These vehicles can be powered by fuels with varying alcohol content, and also by pure petrol. The fuel system according to the invention comprises a main tank (1) for fuel, a cold-start tank (2) with fuel which is sufficiently inflammable to be used in connection with cold starts, as well as fuel line system connecting these tanks to each other and to injection means of the engine of the vehicle, where at least one pump (8, 13) is adapted to transfer fuel through the fuel line system. Specifically, the invention relates to a system which is controlled so that fuel is transferred from the main tank (1) to the cold-start tank (2) when the alcohol content of the fuel is below a predetermined threshold value.

  • Patent number: 6443122
Abstract: Internal combustion engine with fuel injection directly into the combustion chamber of the engine. The engine has inlet channels, the angle of incidence (valve angle) (&agr;) of which is greater than 20° relative to the longitudinal axis of the cylinder chamber. The piston tops are made, firstly, with a surface portion inclined relative to a plane normal to the longitudinal axis of the cylinder chamber by an angle (&ggr;) equal to or less than the angle of incidence of the inlet channel, and, secondly, with a cavity connected to the inclined surface portion. By interaction between the angle of incidence of the inlet channels and the shape of the piston tops, there is generated in the combustion chambers a primary vortical movement in the inlet air about an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the cylinder chamber. The primary vortical movement generates a secondary vortical movement in the opposite direction in the piston cavity.

  • Patent number: 6160479
Abstract: A method of determining distances and angular positions of stationary and moving objects (3), for example in an area to be monitored in connection with for instance swing doors. The determination is done by means of triangulation where light, which in the main part is collimated, is transmitted (1) into the area at different angles and in a certain sequence. The reflected light is correspondingly registered on a position-sensitive sensor (5) which is positioned at a certain distance from the transmitter (1). The position (5a, 5b), where the reflected light falls on the sensor (5), represents the distance, and the moment when the light is received represents the angular position of the detected object. The values are compared to stored reference values which change when the angle of the door's opening is changed.

  • Patent number: 4830307
Abstract: A dragging device in a fishing reel of the fixed-spool type having a housing accommodating a spool shaft rotatably mounted therein. A line spool is non-rotatably mounted on the end of the spool shaft projecting from the reel housing. The reel also comprises a transmission for transforming the movement of a handle into a movement of rotation of a member for winding up the fishing line on the line spool. The dragging device consists of a bait drag which is adapted, when fishing with a live bait, to adjustably brake the line spool for conforming to the size of the live bait. The dragging device is arranged for directly or indirectly acting on the spool shaft and for being engaged or disengaged by an outer slide and drag control disposed on the reel housing.

  • Patent number: 4654201
Abstract: A process of producing a flocculating agent useful for water purification technology and as a substitute for aluminium sulphate in the rosin sizing of paper is described. In this process, about 100-150 parts by weight, preferably about 130 parts by weight of hydrochloric acid, calculated as 100% HCl, and 140-200, preferably 160-190 parts by weight of a sulphate-containing, aluminium hydroxide-containing sludge, calculated on the solids content of the sludge, are mixed. To obtain the sludge, alkaline pickles used in the pickling of aluminium profiles in connection with the anodization of aluminium are neutralized with sulphuric acid or aluminium sulphate. The sludge may also contain up to about 10% by weight of aluminium hydroxide. The mixture is heated and stirred at a temperature of from about 80.degree. C. to the boiling point of the mixture, preferably 95.degree.-100.degree. C., for a combined time of about 3-15 hours, preferably about 4-6 hours.

  • Patent number: 4582627
Abstract: A flocculating agent for use in water purification technology and papermaking technology is described, as well as a process of producing the flocculating agent which is the reaction product of sulphate ion-containing polymeric aluminium hydroxy chloride and one or more cationic polymers preferably selected among polyacrylic amide, polyamide amine and polyethylene imine. The most preferred cationic polymer is polyacrylic amide. The flocculating agent is produced by mixing an aqueous suspension of sulphate ion-containing aluminium polyhydroxy chloride having a solids content of 20-30 parts by weight with 0.3-60 parts by weight of cationic polymer, based upon 100 parts by weight of sulphate ion-containing aluminium polyhydroxy chloride, and by heating the mixture for 2-4 h at a temperature varying from about 80.degree. C. to the boiling point of the mixture.
