  • Publication number: 20090174784
Abstract: A camera includes an image sensor made up of an array of image sensing elements arranged in rows and columns. In addition, the camera includes a lens for imaging a field of view onto the image sensor, and timing circuitry that controls an integration period of each of the image sensing elements, the integration period representing a time during which the image sensing element acquires charge as a function of light incident on the image sensing element. Further, the camera includes gray filter circuitry, operatively coupled to the timing circuitry, for adjusting the integration period of image sensing elements above a horizon defined within the field of view relative to the integration period of image sensing elements below the horizon.

  • Publication number: 20090139671
Abstract: The arrangement and method are for the steam pre-treatment of chips during the production of cellulose pulp to avoid the blow-through of gases in the steam pre-treatment vessel. This prevents foul-smelling gases from being released into the atmosphere. Spreader nozzles for the injection of cooling fluid are arranged in the gas phase of the steam pre-treatment vessel. In the event of the risk for blow-through of steam, cooling that is proportional to the risk is activated. It is possible to avoid the emission of gases from the chip bin when interruptions in the process occur, whereby the release of odours into the surroundings can be minimised.

  • Publication number: 20080193899
Abstract: A method, system and dental prosthesis are provided to facilitate simulation of the natural appearance of teeth. The prosthesis can be formed to include a component to which an aesthetic coating, such as a coloring or tint, can be applied. Further, the prosthesis can include a porcelain coating disposed on the outer surface thereof, and on top of the aesthetic coating, such that the aesthetic coating can be visible through the porcelain coating of the prosthesis. During production, the crown can be coated with a metal and/or ceramic powder by means of a powder printer that can be controlled by computer equipment. A practical and rapid application function can be obtained to produce an extremely natural-looking result.

  • Publication number: 20060162864
Abstract: A method of sealing envelopes after inserting content. The sealing is done by embossing and the method is simple, fast and environmental friendly. Slightly modified conventional envelopes are used but there is no glue needed along the open edge. The sealing method may be used over the full scale from industrial inserting machines through office machines to simple home machinery. Also described is th production of envelopes from plain paper for use in industrial inserting machines. The method may also be used to fix the position of credit cards, CD's and similar inserts in an envelope, and to reinforce a secure sealing of a conventional envelope.

  • Publication number: 20020182717
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of preparing a substrate surface supporting a lipid film membrane structure, which method comprises the steps of contacting a substrate surface with an aqueous liquid containing detergent/lipid mixed micelles to adhere detergent/lipid mixed micelles to the substrate surface, and then contacting the substrate surface having detergent/lipid mixed micelles adhered thereto with an aqueous liquid substantially free from detergent to elute the detergent molecules from the adhered mixed micelles and make the remaining lipid molecules assemble into a lipid film membrane structure on the substrate surface. The invention also relates to a substrate supporting a lipid film membrane structure as prepared by the method, the use of a substrate supporting a lipid film membrane structure as prepared by the method for molecular interaction studies, and a substrate surface for use in the method.

  • Publication number: 20020090341
Abstract: The invention provides a method of detecting myocardial ischemia in a human or a non-human body, said method comprising administering to said body a physiologically acceptable manganese complex or salt thereof, subjecting said body to a magnetic resonance imaging procedure capable of generating images with time intervals of less than 0.5 seconds and thereafter providing a series of images of the myocardium of said body whereby to identify regions of abnormal blood flow. The method in accordance with the invention is of use not only in detecting myocardial ischemia, but also in discriminating between reversibly and irreversibly injured myocardial tissues, thereby providing important information about myocardial viability, e.g. during or following a severe heart attack or coronary occlusion. The method of the invention also provides an effective means of monitoring reperfusion of the myocardium.

  • Patent number: 6286433
Abstract: A small caliber shell having armor piercing capacity and extremely high precision. The shell includes a hollow metal shell casing defining an outer shape of the shell. The shell casing has a conical front tip and a rear end, the shell casing comprising an inner surface. An elongate shell core made of an extremely hard and heavy material is centered around a longitudinal axis of the shell between a first bearing surface on the inner surface in the conical front tip of the shell casing and a second bearing surface on the inner surface of the rear of the shell casing and is axially centered inside the shell casing. A support part is arranged inside the shell casing and surrounds at least a very rearmost portion of the shell core for supporting the shell core. A ballast material in the shell casing between the support part and an interior wall of the shell casing holds the support part in place.

  • Patent number: 4820134
Abstract: A loop pump (1) for pumping liquid, i.e. a pump comprising a pipe (3) or the like embodied in a plurality of turns/loops. The pipe is rotated by a drive source to introduce alternately air and liquid into an inlet (4) and to pump the liquid to a drawing place by way of a conduit (6) or the like rotatably connected with the pipe. The drive source, which may be a propeller (8), absorbs the flow energy of the liquid. A floating body (10) gives the pump the desired floatability on the liquid and the pump includes an anchor (11) for anchoring it relative to the surroundings of the flowing liquid.
