Abstract: A tracking and labeling system (10) for collecting, recording and reporting data (38) on an item (12a, 12b, 12c) as the item experiences changes in state over time. The system has a plurality of node systems (18a, 18b, 18c, 18d, 18e, 18f) connected to the Internet (20) that transmit data (38) to a server (22) with database handling software. As the item (12a, 12b, 12c) is processed at various places and times (14a, 14b, 14c), the data (38) associated with the item (12a, 12b, 12c) is captured by the node systems (18a, 18b, 18c, 18d, 18e, 18f) and sent to the server database (26). The system (10) permits the entire chronologically ordered site-specific history of an item to be recalled through a query directed to the server system (22) for of the item.
