Abstract: An atrial septal occluder device for repairing an atrial septal defect in a human heart includes an elongated catheter for insertion into and moved along a blood vessel and into the heart of a patient. The catheter includes a head portion, a tail portion and a neck portion between the head and tail portions. The neck portion is about 1 cm in length and 2 to 4 mm in diameter. The device also includes an Amplatzer ASO removably fixed to the head of the device and a moveable neck portion for positioning the ASO with respect to the ASD and an activator for closing the ASO over the ASD from outside of the patient's body.

Abstract: An apparatus for providing pollution free air to an individual includes an enclosed or semi-enclosed space or compartment for surround or partially surrounding an individual's head or upper body to separate the individual from polluted air. A filter assembly and fan forcing polluted air through the filter assembly and into the enclosure. The filter assembly includes a first filter for removing relatively large particles such as sand or dust from the polluted air while a second HAPA filter removes airborne allergens before forcing non-polluted air into the enclosed or semi-enclosed space.

The frame supports a two piece neck bracket for fitting around a patient's neck. The neck bracket also includes a chin support and occipital cuff for positioning the patient's head within the bracket. The device also includes an actuator and controller for providing continuous passive motion to the head and neck of the patient. The device also includes a pair of double pivotal joint assemblies which allow a movement about two perpendicular axes with linear movement along one of the axes so that the head and neck are moved through a series of prescribed movements to relieve neck pain and/or disfunction.

Abstract: A pop-up display comprises a generally box like hollow member having an open end at the top thereof and a pivotal flap or flaps for opening and closing the open end thereof. A spring biased pop-up display includes a first coil spring which is disposed on a first axis and held in a compressed position by at least one of the flaps when the flap or flaps are in a closed position. A strap or thread is stretched across the flaps to hold the flaps in a closed position. The spring biased pop-up display includes a pleated paper banner having opposite ends with a second coil spring disposed between the opposite ends and with its axis essentially perpendicular to the axis of the first spring. A candle or sparkler engages the flap or thread and upon ignition burns through the strap or thread. When the strap or thread is broken the first spring pushes the display upwardly to thereby allow the second spring to expand the pleated paper banner outwardly beyond the confines of the hollow chamber.
