The method also includes operating the heating element at a first predetermined power level when the monitored temperature at the utensil is within a first temperature band and determining, after operating the heating element at the first predetermined power level, the monitored temperature at the utensil is within a second temperature band. The method further includes adjusting the operation of the heating element based on the first temperature band and the second temperature band in response to determining the monitored temperature at the utensil is within the second temperature band.
