  • Publication number: 20210181530
Abstract: Dynamic contact lenses having an optical portion that has at least two quasi-stable configurations. Interaction of the dynamic contact lens with an eyelid and/or the tear meniscus can induce a transition between the quasi-stable configurations are disclosed. A dynamic contact lens can include one or more mechanisms that can facilitate interaction of the contact lens with an eyelid and/or a source of tear fluid such as a tear meniscus and that can facilitate transitioning between the quasi-stable configurations. The mechanisms can be configured to control the flow of tear fluid into and out of a tear volume formed between the posterior surface of the optical portion and the anterior surface of the cornea. The dynamic contact lenses can be used for correcting vision such as for correcting presbyopia, delaying the progression of myopia, or for correcting vision caused by an irregularly-shaped cornea.

  • Publication number: 20200260949
Abstract: Retinal imaging systems and related methods employ a user specific approach for controlling the reference arm length in an optical coherence tomography (OCT) imaging device. A method includes restraining a user's head relative to an OCT imaging device. A reference arm length adjustment module is controlled to vary a reference arm length to search a user specific range of reference arm lengths to identify a reference arm length for which the OCT image detector produces an OCT signal corresponding to the retina of the user. The user specific range of reference arm lengths covers a smaller range of reference arm lengths than a reference arm length adjustment range of the reference arm length adjustment module.

  • Publication number: 20200245867
Abstract: Ophthalmic imaging systems and related methods provide pseudo feedback to aid a user in aligning the user's eye with an optical axis of the imaging system. An ophthalmic imaging system includes an ophthalmic imaging device having an optical axis, a display device, an eye camera, and a control unit. The display device displays a fixation target viewable by the user. The eye camera images the eye to generate eye image data. The control unit processes the eye image data to determine a position of the eye relative to the optical axis, processes the position of the eye relative to the optical axis to generate a pseudo position of the eye relative to the optical axis, and causes the display device to display an indication that provides feedback to the user that the eye is located at the pseudo position of the eye relative to the optical axis.

  • Publication number: 20200166777
Abstract: Dynamic contact lenses fabricated with a dynamic portion that extends outward from the peripheral portion are disclosed. When worn on an eye the dynamic portion forms a tear lens for correcting vision. The dynamic portion can also be configured to provide a dynamic tear lens that changes optical power with forces applied by eyelids. The dynamic portion can be configured to assume a conforming configuration and at least one non-conforming configuration, or can be configured to assume at least two non-conforming configurations. The dynamic contact lenses can be used for correcting vision such as correcting presbyopia.
