  • Patent number: 11106044
Abstract: An alignment system for a HUD is provided and includes a mirror, a mirror actuator, first and second light sources, an optic assembly, and a control module. The mirror actuator adjusts mirror orientation. The first light source generates a first light beam. The mirror directs the first light beam from the HUD to a combiner to generate a virtual image. The second light source generates a second light beam. The optic assembly directs the second light beam to the combiner to generate a fiducial. The control module: performs an alignment process including, based on received inputs, controlling the mirror actuator to adjust mirror orientation to adjust a position of the virtual image and align a portion of the virtual image, the fiducial and an eye of a viewer; determines a height of the eye based on a mirror angle; and displays another virtual image based on the height.

  • Publication number: 20200234596
Abstract: A guidance system for a user includes a first haptic device disposed on a first, rightward side and a second haptic device disposed on a second, leftward side of the user. A local controller is disposed on the user to communicate with the first and second haptic devices. A remote server is configured to communicate with the local controller. A vehicle includes a global positioning system sensor, and is in communication with the remote server. The local controller includes a control routine that is executable to determine a desired location of the vehicle, and determine a present location of the user. The control routine guides, via the first and second haptic devices, movement of the user towards the desired location of the vehicle, and indicates, via the first and second haptic devices, arrival of the vehicle at the desired location. The control routine pairs the user with the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20200183415
Abstract: A method of controlling a vehicle includes receiving a first signal from a user device, which indicates motion of the user device. The method additionally includes receiving first sensor data, which indicates motion of a feature external to the vehicle. The method also includes processing, via a controller, the first sensor data to compare the motion of the user device with the motion of the feature external to the vehicle. The method further includes communicating, via the controller, a second signal to the user device. The second signal indicates motion of the vehicle. The method additionally includes receiving a third signal from the user device. The third signal indicates a correlation between the motion of the vehicle and a motion observed by the user device. The method further includes selectively controlling, via the controller, the vehicle towards the feature based on the processing and on the receiving the third signal.

  • Patent number: 10625676
Abstract: An interactive driving system and method that improves a driving experience by allowing a passenger to interactively monitor and evaluate certain driving maneuvers in real-time with an augmented reality interface. The input provided by the passenger via the augmented reality interface is recorded for later processing and analysis. For instance, the passenger input may be used to generate driving reports for later review by the driver and passenger (e.g., when the passenger is teaching a new driver how to drive) or for the manufacturer of autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicles (e.g., when the manufacturer is seeking actionable feedback for improving various self-driving algorithms). In addition, the interactive driving system and method entertain the passenger with the augmented reality interface, which can be delivered in a game-like fashion via a computer program product installed on their own personal electronic device (e.g., a tablet, phone, laptop, etc.).
