  • Publication number: 20240166046
Abstract: A motor vehicle includes at least one camera capturing images of an environment outside of the motor vehicle. A proximity sensor detects an object disposed adjacent to the motor vehicle. An electronic processor receives the images captured by the at least one camera, and receives a proximity signal from the proximity sensor. The proximity signal is indicative of whether an object is disposed adjacent to the motor vehicle. The electronic processor determines, based upon the images captured by the at least one camera and the proximity signal, whether the motor vehicle is disposed within an enclosure. The electronic processor receives an engine start request signal that has been wirelessly transmitted by a user. In response to receiving the engine start request signal, the electronic processor causes the engine start system to start an engine of the motor vehicle when the motor vehicle is not disposed within an enclosure.

  • Publication number: 20240159168
Abstract: The present disclosure provides pumped thermal energy storage systems that can be used to store and extract electrical energy. A pumped thermal energy storage system of the present disclosure can store energy by operating as a heat pump or refrigerator, whereby net work input can be used to transfer heat from the cold side to the hot side. A working fluid of the system is capable of efficient heat exchange with heat storage fluids on a hot side of the system and on a cold side of the system. The system can extract energy by operating as a heat engine transferring heat from the hot side to the cold side, which can result in net work output.

  • Patent number: 11985074
Abstract: One example method includes adjusting overall resource usage in a digital twin network that includes a dynamically informed digital twin of a near-edge node and a dynamically informed digital twin of far-edge nodes. Operational conditions of a dynamically informed digital twin are evaluated based on contextual variables that represent operating properties of the dynamically informed digital twin. Updated information levels are received from an orchestration service of the dynamically informed digital twin. The updated information levels define an amount of resources the dynamically informed digital twin will use in the performance of primary tasks. The updated information levels are parsed. A physical entity associated with the dynamically informed digital twin is informed to adjust sampling properties or increase or decrease its activity and the dynamically informed digital twin is informed to modify information processing methods to thereby adjust the overall resource usage in the digital twin network.

Abstract: A controller for controlling operation of an actuator in an HVAC system is shown. The controller includes a processing circuit configured to receive, via a position sensor communicatively coupled to the actuator, a first voltage value, the first voltage value indicative of a first position of the actuator. The processing circuit is further configured to provide a control signal to the actuator to move to a second position. The processing circuit is further configured to, in response to the actuator moving to the second position, determine that the actuator is located in a different position than the second position based on a second voltage value via the position sensor. The processing circuit is further configured to automatically perform a fault correction process to calculate an updated stroke range of the actuator.

  • Publication number: 20240142263
Abstract: One example method includes identifying features for operational actions that are to be performed at an edge node of an edge computing system. The features include information used by the edge node to execute the operational actions. A first set of the features is received during an input processing stage. The first set of the features are used in the execution of the operational actions. In response to the execution of the operational actions, a second set of the one or more features are obtained, In response to retrieving the first set of the features or in response to obtaining the second set of the features, a local map is updated to include the features. The local map includes a subset of a global map, where the local map and the global map represent a shared representation of a map structure.

  • Patent number: 11966390
Abstract: A method may include receiving a selection of a template defining a manner in which data is stored in one or more database tables operated upon by a software application while the software application performs a function. The selected template may be stored in a first database table. Customizations applied to the selected template are stored in a second database table. In response to the software application performing the function, a virtual customizing table may be generated to include a database view having the selected template from the first database table and the customizations from the second database table. The software application may perform the function based on the virtual customization table, which is not persisted at a database but is generated as needed.
