Abstract: Methods, systems, and means for automatically identifying content to he presented are provided. In particular, content may he automatically identified by first determining a duration during which a user will be performing an activity and determining a mood description of the activity. Characteristics of a plurality of the entertainment content that include length of each of the plurality of entertainment content and a mood description of each of the plurality of entertainment content may be retrieved from memory. The retrieved characteristics may then be compared with the duration of the activity and the mood description of the activity. Next, entertainment content from the plurality of entertainment content to be presented during the activity may be automatically selected. Finally, the entertainment content may be presented to the user.

Abstract: A frame-rate converter reduces halo artifacts along edges of moving objects. Halo artifacts occur on interpolated frames where a moving object covers and uncovers pixels along its edges. Motion estimation among three original frames produces hybrid direction motion vectors that are bi-directional for background and objects, but are unidirectional for covered and uncovered regions, since motion vectors with large matching errors are deleted. Covered regions in the interpolated frame are detected as intersecting only a forward but no backward hybrid motion vector. Bi-directional motion estimation from the hybrid motion vectors of two original frames produces refined motion vectors for the interpolated frame. Refined motion vectors in the covered regions are deleted and replaced with hybrid motion vectors from the original frames. Hybrid motion vectors from the original frames are assigned to the critical covered regions rather than using interpolated vectors in the covered regions, reducing halo artifacts.

Abstract: An embodiment of a method and system for inspecting clear and printed contact lenses is provided. A contact lens is inspected by illuminating the contact lens using bright-field illumination and low-angle dark-field illumination simultaneously, when the contact lens is disposed in a cavity between a male mold and a female mold. Further, the light emerging from the contact lens is received by an imaging optical system, and a camera uses the light received by the imaging optical system to capture an image of the contact lens. Further, a data processing system is configured to identify dark defects in the image that are in a first portion of a dynamic range of brightness, and to identify bright defects in the image that are in a second portion of the dynamic range of brightness.

Abstract: A method of operating a merchant device includes the merchant device receiving an input from a customer mobile device concerning a financial transaction. The method further includes the merchant device selecting a payment transaction mode of operation when the input is a request for a payment card system transaction, or selecting a payment card purchase transaction mode of operation when the input from the customer mobile device is a payment card account number. In the payment transaction mode of operation the merchant device provides transaction data to the customer's mobile device, whereas in the payment card purchase transaction mode the merchant device transmits a payment card authorization request to an acquirer financial institution.

Abstract: Various embodiments of methods and devices are provided for an optocoupler comprising a layer of dielectric optically semi-reflective and transmissive material disposed between an LED and a first photodetector located above an upper surface of the layer, and a second photodetector located beneath the lower surface of the layer. The layer reflects a first portion of light generated by the LED towards the first photodetector to generate LED feedback control signals, and transmits a second portion of light generated by the LED through the layer for detection by the second photodetector to generate isolated output signals.

Abstract: Various embodiments of methods and devices are provided for a self-aligning pick and place collet having proximal and distal ends configured for use with a tape and reel machine. A suction area is located at a distal end of the collet. A pick and place collet contact area is located adjacent to and outwardly from the suction area, and comprises tapered sidewalls that depend downwardly and outwardly away from the outer periphery of the suction area. The tapered sidewalls and the outer periphery of the suction area are configured and dimensioned to cause an electronic device to substantially self-align and center itself with respect to the collet when engaged thereby.

Abstract: A digital scale includes a display and buttonless top platform. Contact with the scale platform alone allows a user to power the scale, identify a user of the scale, determine a mode of operation of the scale, and to establish a reminder. The scale has a user mode of operation displaying a reading of the user's weight. The scale has a pet mode of operation displaying a reading of the weight of a pet. In the user mode of operation a second mode provides a display of the user's current weight, a delta or differential weight with the most recent recorded weight measurement and if the data is available, additional deltas for weight measurements taken up to one year earlier. The scale also has an instant on mode of operation in which it allows for instant weight reading.

Abstract: A method requesting a reconfiguration of a radio interface between user equipment and at least one base station, a method of receiving a request to reconfigure a radio interface between user equipment and a base station, user equipment, a base station and computer program products are disclosed. The method of requesting a reconfiguration of a radio interface between user equipment and at least one base station in a multi-carrier wireless communications system comprising the steps of: determining the reconfiguration to be made by at least one base station; encoding an indication of the reconfiguration together with an indicator in a reconfiguration request message, the indicator indicating a response required by at least one recipient base station on receipt of the reconfiguration request message; and transmitting the reconfiguration request message from the user equipment. This provides a flexible mechanism which enables additional information to be provided on the reconfiguration required.

The gate divider region does not overlap the first and second gate electrode regions in the reference direction.

Abstract: A database system of a mobile device that includes an on-device database service is provided. The on-device database service accepts a connection request from an application, and receives a database command from the application. The on-device database service translates the database command into a structured query language command, and transmits the structured query language command to an embedded database. After a database operation is performed by the embedded database, the on-device database service receives a result of the structured query language command that is transmitted from the embedded database, and the on-device database service transmits the result to the application.

Abstract: An aspect of the invention includes an oral stimulatory device. In certain embodiments, the oral stimulatory device is configured for soothing gums, for instance, the gums of a teething infant. Accordingly, in one embodiment, the oral stimulatory device includes a tubular body. In certain embodiments, the tubular body is configured for being partially positioned in an oral cavity of a user, such as an infant, and is adapted for being deformed. Although the oral stimulatory device may be fabricated from any suitable material, in certain embodiments, the tubular body of the oral stimulatory device is fabricated from a material comprising silicone. For instance, in one embodiment, the tubular body comprises a material that is at least about 50%, that is at least about 60%, that is at least about 70%, that is at least about 80%, that is at least about 90%, such as 95%, or even 99% or 100% food grade silicone.

Abstract: When content, such as premium video or audio, is decoded, the content is stored in protected memory segments. Read access to the protected memory segments from a component not in a frame buffer protected (FBP) mode is blocked by a memory controller. The memory controller also blocks components in the FBP mode from writing to unprotected memory segments. The content may be processed by a processing engine operating in the FBP mode and may only be written back to protected memory segments. The memory segment may later be marked as unprotected if the memory segment is no longer needed. If the content is encrypted in protected memory, the encrypting key associated with the memory segment may be removed. If the content is stored in the clear, the protected memory segments are scrubbed before releasing the segments for use as unprotected memory segments.
