  • Patent number: 5129470
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for use in connection with a drilling apparatus for drilling a hole and also filling the drilled hole with a filler. A hole is drilled by using a tubular drill rod with a crushing tool provided at the end of the drill rod, with the crushing tool substantially defining the diameter of the hole to be drilled. A first flushing medium is supplied in the course of drilling, through the hole in the tubular drill rod to at least one opening in the crushing tool and into an annular space defined between the walls of the drilled hole and the outer surface of the drill rod, for carrying crushed material out of the drilled hole. After completion of the drilling operation and removal of the crushed material, a filler is delivered into the hole in the tubular drill rod, into the drilled hole and/or into the ground or bedrock surrounding the hole.

  • Patent number: 4974689
Abstract: A drill hole filling method involves drilling of a hole by using a tubular drill rod through which, in the course of drilling, a flushing medium is supplied through at least one opening in a crushing tool into an annular space, defined by the hole and the outer surface of the drill rod, for removing crushed material from the hole. The tubular drill rod is used for delivering a filler into a hole and/or into the ground or bedrock surrounding a hole, at the end of the drilling operation. An apparatus for filling a drill hole includes a drilling machine provided with a passaged neck member for fastening a tubular drill rod thereto. Aligned with the neck member is a supply housing which includes at least one chamber adapted to communicate along at least one connecting duct included in the neck member with a passage in the neck member. The supply housing is provided with a valve which is adapted to carry into said chamber a medium required both in the actual drilling and in filling the drill hole.

  • Patent number: 4643619
Abstract: A method of feeding cement into a drill hole for cement bolting of a rock, according to which a feeder pipe (2) is pushed into the hole essentially to the bottom of the hole portion to be filled with cement, cement is fed into the hole beginning from the bottom of the hole portion, and the pipe is displaced outwards in the hole when the cement fills the hole. The feeding of cement is stopped and the pipe is removed when the amount of cement is sufficient to fill the gap between the wall of the hole and the rock bolt to be pushed into the hole. The displacement of the pipe is controlled by means of the filling pressure (TP) caused by the cement fed between the pipe tip and the bottom of the hole portion to ensure that the hole is reliably filled despite possible cracks and crushed zones.

  • Patent number: 4632618
Abstract: A feed storage for drill rods for a long-hole drilling apparatus, said feed storage comprising a magazine provided with fixed guides (11) for storing drill rods (13) in parallel with each other, a delivery opening (14) defined by the guides for transferring drill rods one at a time into and out of the guides, and a feed device provided with gripping means (27) extending between the drill rods positioned in the guides for feeding the drill rods towards and away from the delivery opening in the guides, and a transfer device (9) comprising at least one transfer arm (29) provided with gripping jaws (31) and pivotably mounted on a pivot shaft (30) which is fixed with respect to the magazine so that the gripping jaws are displaced transversally with respect to the axial direction of the drill rods between the delivery opening of the guides and the drilling axis (A) of a drilling machine. The guides of the magazine guide the drill rods with their axes in the same plane.

  • Patent number: 4576525
Abstract: A method for performing rock bolting, according to which a cementing agent is fed into a hole drilled into the rock, whereupon a bolt is fitted into the drill hole for supporting the rock. In order to permit use of a rapidly hardening cementing agent and mechanization of the bolting, a number of capsules (16) are fed to the bottom of the drill hole, which capsules contain a preferably two-component cementing agent which hardens rapidly when the components are mixed together, and a conventional cementing agent (12) hardening slowly and/or protecting the bolt against corrosion is fed into the remaining portion of the drill hole by means of a feeding pipe (5).

  • Patent number: 4514111
Abstract: A method of installing solder bolts in rock bolting, according to which method a bolt (11) is fed into a hole (12) drilled in the rock and is anchored in the hole during hardening of a soldering material (13). The bolt is bent during feeding into the hole in order to produce in the bolt at least one such bend (11a) that the bolt, when entirely inserted in the hole, is wedged in between opposite walls of the hole. A bolt feeding apparatus for carrying out the method includes a feed beam (8), a feeding device (9) supported by said beam for feeding a rock bolt into a drill hole, a displacing device for displacing the feeding device along the feed beam, and a rock support (6) for supporting the feed beam on the rock. The apparatus is provided with guiding means which, as the feeding device is moved along the feed beam, displace the feeding device away from a bolt feeding position coaxial with the axis of the drill hole and return the feeding device back to said feeding position.
