    Abstract: A portable electronic device comprises a device housing and a housing part arranged to overlie at least a portion of the device housing in a first position and arranged for pivoting movement away from the housing to a second position. A hinge connects the housing and the part for providing the pivoting movement of the part. An electrical connector is provided for electrically connecting at least one electrical component in the part and at least one electrical component in the housing. The electrical connector provides an electrical connection at the first and second positions of the part, but the electrical connection is broken during the pivoting movement of the part. Preferably the portable electronic device comprises a portable communication device such as a radio telephone.
