  • Publication number: 20170203839
Abstract: A hybrid propulsion aircraft is described having a distributed electric propulsion system. The distributed electric propulsion system includes a turbo shaft engine that drives one or more generators through a gearbox. The generator provides AC power to a plurality of ducted fans (each being driven by an electric motor). The ducted fans may be integrated with the hybrid propulsion aircraft's wings. The wings can be pivotally attached to the fuselage, thereby allowing for vertical take-off and landing. The design of the hybrid propulsion aircraft mitigates undesirable transient behavior traditionally encountered during a transition from vertical flight to horizontal flight. Moreover, the hybrid propulsion aircraft offers a fast, constant-altitude transition, without requiring a climb or dive to transition. It also offers increased efficiency in both hover and forward flight versus other VTOL aircraft and a higher forward max speed than traditional rotorcraft.

  • Publication number: 20170204710
Abstract: A gas lift capable oil well is artificially gas lifted by transferring compressed natural gas (CNG) from a compressed natural gas vessel of a mobile CNG storage system to a tubing-casing annulus of the gas lift capable well via a pathway. The CNG transfer occurs without the use of a compressor. A mobile unloader monitors and controls the flow of CNG from the vessel to the annulus.

Abstract: The present application relates to the field of liquid crystal display manufacturing technology, and particularly to a detection device comprising a base, a bracket, a swing lever, a first limit lever and a first magnetic sensor. The bracket is provided on the base, the swing lever is swingably provided on the bracket via a swing shaft and the swing lever is partitioned as a toggle section and a trigger section by the swing shaft, the weight of the trigger section being greater than the weight of the toggle section. An end of the trigger section is provided with a magnetic block, and an end of the toggle section is higher in an initial state than an upper edge of the bracket. The first limit lever is provided on the bracket for limiting the trigger section. The first magnetic sensor is provided on the bracket and located in the vicinity of a virtual extension of the trigger section when the trigger section is limited by the first limit lever.

Abstract: An optical compensation method for a display device including a pixel is provided. The method includes: providing test data having a first grayscale value to the display device; measuring a luminance of the pixel which emits light based on the test data; and calculating a compensation grayscale value based on a second target luminance and the measured luminance of the pixel. The second target luminance is lower than a first target luminance which is set based on the first grayscale value.

  • Publication number: 20170205841
Abstract: A voltage regulator which provides at an output node a load current at an output voltage is described. The voltage regulator comprises a pass transistor for providing the load current at the output node from an input node, and a driver stage configured to set the gate voltage of the pass transistor based on a drive current. The voltage regulator has voltage regulation means to set the drive current in dependence of an indication of the output voltage at the output node and in dependence of a reference voltage for the output voltage. The voltage regulator has bypass regulation means to set the drive current in dependence of an indication of the gate-to-source voltage at the pass transistor and in dependence of a target voltage for the gate—to activate the voltage regulation means and/or the bypass regulation means. source voltage.

  • Publication number: 20170206288
Abstract: A gradient method (GM) for constructing and using absorbing boundary conditions (ABCs) for high accuracy numerical computations of various physical phenomena which are governed by partial differential equations (PDEs) is disclosed. The PDEs to which the GM is applicable are for example: the Helmholtz equation (also known as the wave equation in the frequency domain), the elastic wave equation in the frequency domain, Maxwell's equations, and Schrodinger's equation. The GM can be used to develop ABCs for the solution of PDE problems in two or more dimensions. The GM is a tool based on two principles: (1) Any directional derivatives in an ABC must be taken in the direction of the gradient of the unknown function or functions of the PDE, and (2) any ABC using such gradient derivatives may be applied to any domain of a convex shape, even if the ABC was originally developed for domains of a restricted shape.

  • Publication number: 20170204595
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a device that measures volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted by an individual's urine, feces or present in flatulence for use in assessing the individual's health. The device may be part of a toilet. The device includes a gas sensor that measures VOCs in the air within the toilet bowl after waste is deposited therein. The device includes a manifold that keeps air from the toilet bowl separate from water and waste in the toilet bowl until the gas sensor has collected readings. Then the manifold combines the air, water, and waste before depositing the material into the sewer system. The gas sensor may be connected to a processor that analyses the gas sensor readings, provides a report of the analyzed data, and transmits the data to a network. A healthcare provider may download the data from the network to assess the individual's health.

  • Publication number: 20170205796
Abstract: A method includes holding multiple primitives of a communication protocol, which is used for managing a controller that controls one or more field devices in an industrial control network. Multiple scenarios are defined, each corresponding to one or more respective sequences of primitives exchanged with the controller over the industrial control network for achieving a respective user-level operation. Multiple parsing rules for deriving the sequences of primitives from the respective scenarios are further defined. A sequence of primitives that were exchanged with the controller over the industrial control network is intercepted. An attempt to reconstruct from the intercepted sequence of primitives, using the parsing rules, one or more scenarios that each corresponds to the intercepted sequence of primitives is carried out, and, in response to succeeding in reconstructing one or more scenarios, extracting user-level information from the reconstructed scenarios.
