  • Publication number: 20100215028
Abstract: A communication system includes a master host unit, communication links, a remote server unit, an analog communication medium, and remote units. The master host unit communicates analog signals with service provider interfaces using a first set of bands of analog spectrum. The master host unit communicates digitized spectrum in N-bit words across communication links and converts between the first set of bands and N-bit words. The remote server unit communicates N-bit words with the master host unit across communication links and converts between N-bit words and a second set of bands of analog spectrum. The remote server unit communicates the second set of bands with the remote units across the analog communication medium. Each remote unit frequency converts the second set of bands to a third set of bands of analog spectrum and transmits and receives wireless signals, associated with service provider interfaces, over air interfaces.

  • Publication number: 20100218074
Abstract: System, apparatus and method are provided for transmitting and receiving packets over first and second channels. An FEC encoder generates forward error correction (FEC) packets corresponding to an original stream of packets. A packet transmitter transmits the original stream of packets over the first channel and transmits the FEC packets over the second channel. A packet receiver receives a stream of packets over the first channel, and receives the FEC packets corresponding to the stream of packets over the second channel. An FEC decoder uses information stored in the FEC packets to determine a correspondence between the FEC packets and the stream of packets, and recovers one or more lost packets of the stream of packets using the FEC packets.

  • Patent number: 7780449
Abstract: A root canal is filled and/or sealed using a hydrophilic sealing composition, optionally in combination with other filling materials. The sealing composition may include one or more resins that promote adhesion to hydrophilic dental tissues. The composition may be introduced into the root canal using a narrow cannula coupled to a high pressure hydraulic delivery device. In the case where a chemical cure composition is used to seal the root canal, a chemical initiator can be used to cause the mixed composition to harden over time. Hardening of at least a portion of the composition can be accelerated by including a photoinitiator and irratiating the mixed composition with radiant energy (e.g., from a dental curing lamp).

  • Publication number: 20100208921
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for background noise estimation use a first and a second hearing device for binaural supply of a hearing impaired person. In each case the hearing devices have a first and a second omnidirectional microphone and the two microphones of each hearing device are connected to each other electrically in order to form a first and/or a second monaural directional characteristic. The first and/or second microphone of the first hearing device is connected together wirelessly with the first and/or second microphone of the second hearing device to form a binaural directional characteristic. To estimate the background noise, the level of an output signal from the first and/or the second directional microphone having a monaural directional characteristic is combined with the level of an output signal from the directional microphone having a binaural directional characteristic. Background noise estimation is thereby enhanced in the case of binaural supply.

  • Publication number: 20100211250
Abstract: A system and method for indirect tire pressure monitoring. A pressure loss variable (X, f, c) is determined based on an analysis of an oscillation behavior of a tire of a motor vehicle for the detection of a pressure loss in the tire of a wheel. A variable (?, ?/v) representing an increase (?) of a wheel torque slip curve, or depending on an increase (?) of a wheel torque slip curve (?/v), is determined from the oscillation behavior of the tire, and the variable (?, ?/v) and the pressure loss variable (X, f, c) are used for detecting the pressure loss.
