  • Patent number: 8200964
Abstract: One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for accessing an encrypted file through a file system. During operation, the system receives a request to access the encrypted file. In response to the request, the system sends an encrypted file key for the encrypted file from the file system to a tamper-resistant module. Next, the tamper-resistant module uses a master secret to decrypt the encrypted file key to restore the file key, wherein the master secret is obtained from an external source by the tamper-resistant module. The system then uses the file key to access the encrypted file.

  • Publication number: 20120125377
Abstract: An assembly structured to clean the head portion of a stethoscope comprising a housing including a path of travel along which the head portion passes during cleaning. A supply of cleaning fluid associated with a dispenser assembly is cooperatively disposed relative to an activating assembly. The activating assembly is operated in moveable engagement with the head portion, and activates the dispenser assembly when engaged by the head portion as it passes along the path of travel. The dispenser assembly delivers the cleaning fluid to an applicator assembly which distributes the cleaning fluid to the head portion and facilitates the cleaning thereof and removal of excess cleaning fluid there from. At least one disinfectant agent is dispersed within or comprises a portion of the housing and is formulated to be destructively effective against pathogenic bacteria, such as in the spore form, which is generally not affected by the cleaning fluid.

  • Publication number: 20120117792
Abstract: An assembly structured to restrict contamination of individuals from association with the heads of stethoscope comprising a housing including a path of travel along which the head portion passes. Different embodiments include the dispensing of cleaning fluid or the delivery of protective barriers onto predetermined portions of the stethoscope heads, while passing along the path of travel. A dispenser assembly and a cooperatively disposed activating assembly are manually operated by moveable, driving engagement with the head portion passing through the housing. The activating assembly is thereby operatively positioned to activate the dispenser assembly when engaged by a head passing along the path of travel. Differently structured dispenser assemblies function to either deliver the cleaning fluid or individually dispense the barriers onto different heads, so as to either facilitate the cleaning or protective covering of exposed surfaces of the stethoscope heads, dependent on the embodiment utilized.

  • Publication number: 20120107196
Abstract: A thermoplastic laboratory beaker that holds liquid in a reservoir portion of the beaker, in which the beaker includes a first upright, generally circular, outer sidewall and a second inner sidewall which are united at their upper limit height to form a lip edge or lip surface. The two sidewalls typically diverge from each other below the lip surface to create an air space between them. The outer sidewall extends downward a first distance D1 below the lip surface, and then usually bends outward to form a substantially planar supporting flange that at least partially supports the weight of said beaker on a laboratory surface. The inner sidewall extends downward a second distance D2 from the lip surface, and then bends inward to form a bottom wall for the reservoir portion that intersects the central vertical axis of said beaker, in which the inner sidewall and the bottom wall form the reservoir portion for holding a liquid.

Abstract: A system and method are described which enable planned evolution and obsolescence of multiuser wireless spectrum. One embodiment of such a system includes one or multiple centralized processors and one or multiple distributed nodes that communicate via wireline or wireless connections. The distributed nodes may share their identification number and other reconfigurable system parameters with the centralized processor. The information about all distributed nodes may be stored in a database that is shared by all centralized processors. The reconfigurable system parameters may comprise power emission, frequency band, modulation/coding scheme. The distributed nodes may be software defined radios such as FPGA, DSP, GPU and/or GPCPU that run algorithms for baseband signal processing and may be reconfigured remotely by the centralized processor. A cloud wireless system may be used wherein the distributed nodes are reconfigured periodically or instantly to adjust to the evolving wireless architecture.

  • Publication number: 20120087430
Abstract: Non-linear or linear precoding is used to create separate areas of coherence to different users. Limited feedback techniques may also be employed to send channel state information (CSI) from the plurality of users to the MU-MAS. In some embodiments, a codebook is built based on basis functions that span the radiated field of a transmit array. Additionally, the precoding may be continuously updated to create non-interfering areas of coherence to the users as the wireless channel changes due to Doppler effect. Moreover, the size of the areas of coherence may be dynamically adjusted depending on the distribution of users.

  • Patent number: 8150038
Abstract: A method of securely storing electronic information includes a step in which target electronically stored information is encrypted with a first encryption key and then partitioned into a first set of encrypted ESI partitions a subset of which is able to reconstruct the unpartitioned encrypted ESI. This first set of encrypted ESI partitions is then encrypted with a first set of user encryption keys to form a first set of user-associated encrypted ESI partitions that are made available to a first set of users. When access to the target electronically stored information is changed, the target electronically stored information is accessed and then re-encrypted with a second encryption key to form a second encrypted ESI. This second encrypted ESI is then partitioned and distributed to a second set of users.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems for controlling interconnections between nodes using virtual nodes are described. A physical node—such as a router, bridge, switch, etc.—stores a virtual cost associated with a virtual link that links virtual nodes of the physical node. A first physical port and a second physical port of the physical node are designated as belonging to a first virtual node and a third physical port of the physical node is designated as belonging to the second virtual node. The first physical port is associated with a first network partition and the second physical port is associated with a second network partition.
