  • Patent number: 7050855
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are disclosed for reducing the potentially harmful effects of electromagnetic waves on an implantable medical device. In one embodiment of the present invention, an implantable medical system comprising a dual threshold magnetic sensor capable of detecting an elevated magnetic field is disclosed. The sensor can comprise a solid-state sensor capable of detecting a static magnetic field in excess of about 1500 Gauss. • Patent number: 7050396
Abstract: A method of automatically establishing differentiated services quality of service treatment for a return packet flow that is associated with an originating packet flow in a network is disclosed. The originating packet flow is received, and it is determined that one or more packets in the originating packet flow are marked with a DSCP value that matches a policy rule that instruct setting of a specified DSCP value to the return packet flow. In response, information identifying the originating packet flow and a second DSCP value for marking the return packet flow is created and stored. When a corresponding return packet flow is received and determined to be associated with the originating packet flow, packets of the return packet flow are automatically marked with the second DSCP value. Once the packet flow terminates, all stored information is removed.

  • Patent number: 7047944
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for computer controlled fuel injection into a vehicle engine under conditions where the vehicle is starting from cold or being restarted after a short period of being shut off. The method utilizes the value of conductance measured at an air/fuel sensor heater and t least one other engine parameter to determine the correct amount of fuel to be injected into the engine to accomplish efficient combustion. The computer controller adjusts the amount of fuel to be delivered from the fuel injector into the engine based on the value of conductance.

  • Patent number: 7050995
Abstract: The system of this invention manages customer orders using vendor supplied software systems interfaced on a real-time basis to touch the data in each system on a real-time basis. In effect, there is horizontal communication between the various components of the system such as inventory, purchasing, order management and receipt, logistics and inventory to have continual data flow without using a vertical software interface. As a result, customer orders are received on a real-time basis using screens that are user friendly to promptly take orders, to verify customer data and to verify the ability to meet those orders. Transmission of documents within the system is minimized thereby making it more efficient, timely and cost efficient.

  • Publication number: 20060106851
Abstract: Database performance and availability monitoring of changes impacting database performance, availability and continuity to the underlying business may be performed. A method for doing so may include analytical and visual real-time analysis engines to identify and provide alert notifications on changes in database performance statistics (such as CPU consumption, physical I/O, etc.) related to a sample period of time on a single database or across multiple databases. Result data may be displayed through a series of charts and/or summary tables that may indicate whether correlations exist between unexpected database performance and relative changes in database performance statistical parameters.

  • Patent number: 7046617
Abstract: A method and apparatus for communicating in an OFDM system whereby data subcarriers associated with a first antenna of at least two transmit antennas are multiplexed with data symbols while modulating other subcarriers associated with other antennas with zero. The data subcarriers are separated between the at least two transmit antennas so that a data subcarrier and a mirror data subcarrier are not transmitted from a same transmit antenna and that adjacent data subcarriers are at least two subcarrier frequency bandwidths apart. In an embodiment, the method and apparatus further comprise receiving the transmitted subcarriers from at least two receive antennas where the transmitted data subcarriers are also separated so that the data subcarrier and the mirror data subcarrier are not received from a same receive antenna of the at least two receive antennas. The method and apparatus further comprises combining the received transmitted subcarriers from the at least two receive antennas into a single data stream.

  • Patent number: 7046719
Abstract: A receiver (200) is provided receiving signals from differing base stations (BTSA and BTSB). The signal from BTSA is encoded using a first rate convolutional encoder while the signal transmitted from BTSB is encoded using a second rate convolutional encoder. Since the multiple base station links may result in a different number of symbols being received for each bit transmitted, the symbols received for each link cannot be simply combined. Therefore, in the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the resulting symbols are passed to multiple branch metric circuits (210–211), where branch metrics (?i) for the symbols are obtained. After the ith branch metrics for the base stations are computed, the branch metrics for each base station are passed to a combiner (212) where they are combined.

  • Patent number: 7043963
Abstract: A sealed housing evaporative determination (SHED) apparatus and method for practically zero emission vehicles (PZEV) provides periodic sampling of ambient air within a substantially air-tight testing structure enclosing a vehicle under test. Pressure drops within the testing structure are compensated by injecting air substantially free of hydrocarbons into the testing structure. Pressure increases within the testing structure are reduced by withdrawing ambient air from the testing structure. Hydrocarbon content of any withdrawn ambient air is determined from the latest sample, and cumulative evaporative emissions are adjusted accordingly.

  • Patent number: 7046697
Abstract: The invention combines the repeater functions outlined in the IEEE 802.3 Standards, §27, and the 100BASE-TX PCS and PMA. The disclosed FEMR provides four ports in the PQFR packet of its 100 pins. Such extension ports allow multiple serial connections of the FEMR's, increasing the number of all ports on the repeaters. Therefore, the price of each repeater can be reduced to its minimum, and the serial device does not need an external logic circuit. Additionally, the serial device also supports the extension among built-in inter-repeaters used in stackable backplanes.

  • Publication number: 20060098643
Abstract: A system and method for providing premium transport in a DOCSIS-compliant cable network. An edge server in a DOCSIS-compliant cable network maintains a list of preferred content providers (PCPs). For each PCP, the PCP list comprises matching criteria. The edge server monitors the header of incoming packets for the matching criteria. A packet that matches the matching criteria is modified by the edge server causing the packet to be associated with a “premium” downstream service flow. Packets sent in response to a “preferred” packet are parsed by a cable modem and routed upstream according to a “premium” upstream service flow.
