  • Patent number: 12355221
Abstract: A cable shaving tool including a blade holder having a guide channel extending along the blade holder length. The guide channel includes a cable channel, and a control surface at opposing ends. A removable blade is secured to a blade support surface and the blade edge extends within the guide channel. The blade support and handle are disposed along a central axis. The shaving depth is determined by the differential between: (1) the distance from the cable channel to the bottom surface of the blade holder; and (2) the distance from the control surface to the bottom surface of the blade holder. The handle is secured to the blade holder and extends along the central axis, allowing an operator's hand to be positioned directly over the blade during a cut, apply a downward pressure on the cable to set the blade and then move the tool in a direction parallel to the cable length.

  • Publication number: 20150378126
Abstract: A tool for accessing an optical fiber within a buffer tube comprising a buffer tube guide having a groove for insertion of a buffer tube and a blade movable from a first position away from the buffer tube guide to a second position against the buffer tube guide. The tool may include a lower body section and an upper body section movable toward and away from the lower body section, the blade attached to the upper body section and the buffer tube guide attached to the lowered body section wherein the blade contacts the buffer tube when the upper body section is toward the lower body section. The buffer tube guide may be removably securable to the lower body section and the buffer tube guide is replaceable with at least one different sized buffer tube guide for insertion of at least one different sized buffer tube.

  • Patent number: 7059162
Abstract: A flaring tool for flaring the outer conductors of two different sizes of coaxial cable includes a dome-shaped body and a reversible tool head. The tool head has first and second shafts and first and second flaring heads on opposite sides. Reversing the tool head exposes the shaft and flaring head for the corresponding size coaxial cable. The shafts match the inner diameter of the inner conductor of the coaxial cable to be flared. The flaring heads are shaped as half cones, which allow the outer conductor to be flared without deforming the insulation between the inner and outer conductors of the coaxial cable.
