  • Patent number: 11634869
Abstract: The present invention provides multi-ply creped tissue products, and in particular embodiments creped wet pressed tissue products, having substantially higher per-ply basis weights, such as from about 20 to about 30 gsm, without the negative effects often associated with higher basis weight. As such, the tissue products are generally soft and flexible, having a softness value (measured as TS7) less than about 12.0 and a Stiffness Index less than about 20. While being soft and flexible, the instant tissue products are durable enough to withstand use, such as having a GMT greater than about 600 g/3? and a Burst Index greater than about 12.0.

  • Publication number: 20150352801
Abstract: A process to mate a plurality of tissue webs includes in one embodiment providing first and second steel rolls and a second steel roll. The first steel roll has first protrusions, and the second steel roll has recesses. The embodiment includes forming a rotary nip between the first steel roll and the second steel roll, and advancing the plurality of tissue webs through the nip. The embodiment includes embossing first and second embossments into the plurality of tissue webs to connect the tissue webs to one another. The first protrusions press a first series of portions of the plurality of tissue webs into the recesses. The second embossments are created by one of pin-to-flat and pin-to-pin embossing. An apparatus suitable for carrying out the process is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20150352803
Abstract: An embossed multi-ply tissue product includes a first tissue ply and a second tissue ply superposed over the first tissue ply. The first tissue ply and second tissue ply are connected together via first embossments and second embossments. The tissue product has a first side and a second side. The first embossments define a series of first depressions on the first side and a series of protuberances on the second side. In one embodiment, the second embossments define a series of second depressions on the first side, and the second embossments have substantially no protuberances on the second side. In another embodiment, the second embossments define a series of second depressions on the second side, and the second embossments have substantially no protuberances on the first side.
